    • RE: All About Math Olympiad Training & Questions

Are diophantine equations and quadratic equations on NMOS syllabus?

TBH, is there really a syllabus for NMOS or it is all random?

    • RE: All About Math Olympiad Training & Questions

In my kid’s school, the students for NMOS are selected based on some confidential criteria. I know of several good kids who could have performed well in NMOS but the school simply ignored them. Any way to highlight this behaviour of the school?

      Hi all,

Quite new here. My kid is P4 this year. Any advice of how to prepare for the Science Olympiad ?

His school is a neighborhood school, so we dont really get any information from school.

      thanks in advance.
Same here. The science teacher of the school of DS does not even know about Raffles Science Olympic. Looks like noone from this school has ever been to RSO.

Can someone help me locate the link to RSO? Also, are individual registrations allowed or I must go through the school?

    • RE: All About Math Olympiad Training & Questions

Hi, can anyone recommend me some good math olympiad tutors/tuition programs in eastern part of the island (Tampines, Pasir Ris, Sengkang, Punggol, Bedok, etc)? I have so far heard of good tutors/programs only in Clementi. Thanks.

      Hi,

DD is presently in P5 and doing well in school. Loves science and maths and wants to join NUS High in 2020.
Any teacher or tutor around who can tutor her? A little guidance can sometimes make a big difference. Thanks,

Does anyone not get invited for TA in SOTA? It appears to me that everyone who applied to SOTA got invited to the Talent Academy.

    • RE: Preparing For O-Levels

      Hi,

Some kids repeat o-levels while others continue even with poor scores.
What are the benefits of repeating the o-level and which type of students do this?
      Thanks, Karen

    • RE: Is there any way to improve memory?

      OngMum:
Hi kitty2, there's a trainer by the name of Nishant Kasibhatla. He is the grand master of memory and world record holder. Nishant conducts training in areas such as peak mental performance, memory improvement and etc to schools, companies or individual. I came to know him thru the Education Summit and he was one of the speakers.

      Hope it helps. Cheers!
HOw much does this trainer charge for his training? How long does it take to see any visible results?
      Much Kiasu,

I intends to do an Intensive program (5 x 2.5 hr sessions, fees $550) during March Holidays for students preparing for P5 (NMOS) and P6 (APMOPS). Well, may cover 1 paper in RIPMWC for students taking part in the contest.

      Thanks.

Which of these Olympiads permits the use of calculators?
How many of these competitions should a kid prepare for? How to strike a balance between Maths Olympiad and other subjects/activities?

      Tnx,

    • RE: All About Cycling

      Hello Kiasu Parents,

I am looking for a place where my kids can learn to cycle safely and quickly. I find it difficult to run around holding the bicycle as the little one pedals and they are scared to pedal on their own.
Any recent experience would be useful.
      Thanks,
      Karen
