According to my colleagues she's quite sure that the traffic is better than bukit timah dunearn stretch. However she can't be too sure then as 2014 will be starth of their single session after occupying that very same temporary holding place from 2012 and 2013.

Luanee should be quite happy as this temporary holding place is nearer to her home now

Did the letter say RGPS will start single session in 2014 at the temp location or in 2016 when they move back?

Yes I was wondering the same thing since DD2 starts P1 in 2014. Have written to the school to ask.

Understand that it does not feel good to receive a call out of no where, from a teacher whom, you have not met or spoken to and be bombarded by such a feedback.

Just my take on this. Complaining to the HOD will not solve the problem. Why not take the lead on this. The teacher has already feedback to you that your girl is not coping well. Granted she could have approached it better but what is more important is to help your child catch up, not teach the teacher the finer aspects of communication. Call the teacher up, arrange a meeting and work out how to help your child improve. Going forward, keep the communications open. I believe all teachers will appreciate a parent who is doing her part to help their child and hence be more forthcoming with help and suggestions.
Thanks Funz for the quick feedback. Really appreciate the advice.

Hi everyone, need some advice on this as I’m not very familiar with the system here.

I got a call today from DD’s Chinese teacher. It was out of the blue while I was at the office and I thought it was some emergency. But she basically called to tell me that DD doesn’t really understand her in class and asked if I speak to her at home in Chinese.

I explained to her that we just returned from overseas at the end of last year (after Christmas) after being away for two years and whatever little DD learnt was lost so have to start all over again.

It’s a long story but the gist of it was that my DD couldn’t understand her and can’t speak well and she can’t possibly keep translating for her alone. She even compared her to an Indian girl in her class who is doing better!!! She didn’t even offer a solution!

Bottom line is I know she’s not on par with the rest and have started tuition this year immediately after getting back to SG. But I was really surprised by the negative vibe I got from her and how informal this ‘feedback’ was.

Can any other parent let me know if this is standard practice where the teacher can just call up any time to ‘complain’ about the child? I’ve been advised by colleagues that perhaps I should write to HOD about this but I’m hesitant to ‘cause trouble’.

Would love to hear any comments on this. Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi all, my gal just started pri 1 this year. So far, so good. According to her, the best part of going to school is to buy her own food during recess 😄 I would like to know if is it the norm for pri 1 student to have tuition? Not sure if I should get her started on any. Thanks!

Hi darlinte, mine started P1 this year too. What class is yours in? My DD is in 1B. Would like to get to know other p1 mums here and swap stories!

Hi everyone I’m new to the forum and my DD is starting P1 on Tuesday. Does anyone know what books to pack and what kind of stationery are we supposed to bring.

      TIA for any feedback!
