New minister at the helm. Will spread out intake to neighbourhood schools. May see more 240s to 250s end up in neighbourhood schools..... :rahrah:

My son had difficulties in grasping the concepts behind the math and science last year...results plunged after CA1. He didnt have any help and i was too busy. Lucky managed to enrol him in a good centre and built up his confidence and results. This yr he's doing well for his double maths.

Hi. Can PM me which centre? Thanks

Any recommendation for small group tuition on Sec 2 Maths in Upp Serangoon/Hougang/Kovan area?

My boy with Mavis now but he’s not improving. He can do all exercises and tests in classs but when come to exam like CA1, he flung. The problem I think is he did not grasp the principles behind those topics.

Best is to let them find out using Besta the model which in PSLE they can use.

What's this? Can elaborate further? Thanks.

    • RE: Preparing kids for P5 in 2011

My son's Maths paper for CA2 was set by the Science teacher this year. The format of all almost all the questions in the problem solving part completely different from what they have been learning frm their Maths teacher! Ended up more than half the class failed! My son managed to scrape thru bcos he did well for the paper 1. I really don't understand what in the world are all these schools trying to achieve??!!??

    • RE: P5 Science & Maths a big change

Some schools don't know why purposely set very difficult and extreme questions and ended up kids get so demoralised when they get much lower than expected results despite having worked so hard in their revisions and tuition. My son's CA2 kena such a paper for Maths. He told me even the best student in Maths in his class looked very disppointed and 'green face' after the problem solving paper..... :siao:
