barneybaby:My DD completed her JMC (Book 1 to 4) and also took her Fss exam. After JMC I switch her to individual private lesson with private tutor. It was hard for her at first as JMC course building of foundation on sight reading is poor. She always tends to memories the solfege then play instead of DO THE ACTUAL reading of notes, this is a big problem for her to switch to ABRSM which really emphasis on Sight reading. The finger technical skills in JMC course was also not established properly so her private tutor had a lot to correct her on her from sitting posture to finger curving way. But her private tutor is impressed with her aural skills as I guess that is the only thing I feel that she benefits from JMC training on her hearing! My girl told me she enjoy private lesson more although it is tougher but she can focus more on the 1 to 1 lesson.Dear 6thisnthat9
Thanks so much for your feedback. Can know if your kid complete the 2 years of JMC before switching to individual piano class or can we just attend JMC for a year and switch to individual piano class? When switching to individual class, will the kid get confused or some parents mentioned that they need to start from scratch for individual piano as JMC is totally not related to piano? Thanks so much.

RE: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System
Ok my view on the flaws of current system is :
If PR which has former child that enter the schools somehow in the previous years (due to low birth rate or by chance balloting etc) they will be successfully secure a space for their subsequent children. To them they will go all the way out to try popular schools since they have nothing to lose.
Then it will be unfair for us Singaporean SC who stay within 1KM of the school as vacancies are filled up by these PRs children at previous phases (Phase 1, 2A1 or 2A2), These PR will gain priority ahead of us which our first child is entering the school of choice!!
Current system should look into given Singapore citizens priority in regardless of phases. PR & Foreigner should have a different tier of application after Citizens. -

RE: [Jurong West] Primary Schools
Anyone has the pass history of SC within 1KM applicant for Frontier and Jurong West Pri?
This year frontier only left 80 places & Jurong west only left 75 places.
Likelyhood need balloting but not sure which distance. No data to compare except total no. of applicant for last year.
