Hi kind parents, can I ask if anyone know of girls who managed to get into Cedar Girls at cut off point of AL9 even though it was placed as their second choice? We are trying to decide if it is safe to put Cedar as second choice as a backup or put AL10 school instead. Thank you.

Same here, the only thing I can comment is 惨不忍睹[/quote]Same for mine.. mostly below passing mark..
Hi GiftedGem, yes we received the Eng file last week for parent's signature, all the work done in class have been marked. For my ds, mark for the 1st part of \"doing notation\" is really horrible, most below passing markYY1205:

Dagong / YY1025, has the tr marked any of Eng assignments? So far, DD did not receive any. Except more assignments to work on.

DS is also struggling with HCL. Recent paper scored 30/60.. I'm really worried and I'm not sure how else to help him improve his HCL.GiftedGem:
No Lah. Refer to the comprehension part. If this SA2 overall agg score is bad, will prepare DD to downgrade to normal CL in P5.
We intend to downgrade DS to normal Chinese next year,he is struggling with HC, barely pass only
Looks like he will most probably be asked to drop to normal Chinese.. -

Thank you for your encouragement.. very kind of you.. :thankyou:
Don't be discouraged. Some of my ds classmates did badly in p4 but their results gradually improved in p5 and p6. This is only the first exam. It is still too early to say whether the kids are suitable for the program. Jia you:)kitkit:
DS is averaging below 70% for most subjects
I am really concerned cos I know he is quite disappointed that he can't do well even though he has put in effort..
EL used to be his strongest subject but now he is scoring below baseline and i know he feels demoralised.
DS has also told me that he thinks he is not good enough for the programme and asked if he should go back to mainstream.. Can't help but feel sad for him..
I also hope he will gradually get the hang of things and improve bit by bit. I keep reminding myself to adjust my expectation but really not easy to \"digest\" the \"drastic decline\" in his results.. -

I'm sure many parents share the same sentiments. When our kids were in mainstream, they basically breezed thru all exams, topping class or level without much problems. But when come to GEP, they need to put in more effort, as all the subjects r pitched at a higher level, in order to tap to their so called \"fullest potential\", I guess.
Hence, both parents & kids have to manage their expectations more realistically. I dun think it is wise to expect them to excel in every paper, in all subjects. A little setback is necessary & good for the kids sometimes.

Any parents seen yesterday's chinese homework regarding the 航海家 ? So tough, some of the comprehension questions you have to read & read the passage again to find the answers. Can't imagine those weak in chinese ....
Yes, my son brought back he same \"bi-ji\" chinese homework.. There were quite a few that he was not able to do. So eventually left them blank for him to go to school and check with teacher..
My chinese is no good and DS's chinese is also quite week.. sigh.. i think he will struggle in HCL. -
GEP Assessment Books
I’m curious if there are assessment books in the market catering to revision for GEP common tests / exams.
Can someone please enlighten me?
Pls pardon my ignorance cos I’m new in this area… DS just started P4 GEP this year…
Thanks in advance. -

Hi, another mummy whose boy would be joining GEP in NH next yr. I am at CCK, hv the same concern with regards to travelling to NH. We r expected to wait for the sch bus @~6:10am. Heard there's a pte bus that wouldn't come so early. Any parent @CCK/Bt Panjang knows? Thanks.

When I called up NH last wee, I was told the pte bus goes to areas which the main bus operator does not operate. I'm not sure how accurate this info is cos I have not verified it. You can call the school to ask for the contact no. of the pet bus operator and verify with them directly.
Just wondering is it feasible to do car pooling within cck/bt pnj area to NH? -
RE: GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection
Also just wondering - are there assessments books that are more for preparing the child for GEP tests etc?
