RE: [Ang Mo Kio/Bishan/Thomson/Toa Payoh] Preschools
Oh my goodness i didnt realise it was so difficult not to mention stressful finding a good place to send our kids.
My daughter has just turned 18 months so my husband and I thought maybe we should send her to a pre-school expose her a bit; either halfday or just a couple of hours, we wnt to send her somewhere good where she will learnt things, not just play jump around and come back, that she can do at home.
we live in Bishan so thought of United montessori but read some of your reviews here and i duno if you al are being over kiasu or is it really that bad.
Called them for an apt they seem pretty packed for the next 2 weeks so they must be doing something right. So just wait and see then il go check it out.
Can anyone reccomend anything else near bishan area for an 18 month yea old
Thanks -

RE: All About Montessori
i know we already have a Montessori thread which is just super long and i don’t now where to start searching through it. Just wanted help with a few questions.
I’m not very familiar with the education system in Singapore ive only been here a year, and im looking to start my child into a pre school.
So i was looking at Montessori, but there are so many different types like modern Montessori then united Montessori then other names with Montessori so are these all the same or different branches? Do they all follow the same methods?
How do you know if its a real Montessori??
Thanks in advance -

RE: Teachers from India join S'pore schools
I personally think it’s a good idea, will help them speak more of the ‘Queens English’ no offense but I’ve seen local teachers here in Singapore using way to much English!!
And English is one of the most important subjects and its also a subject that our local kids have the most tuition for. If you realise its our Chinese kids who tend to most poorly in English as they all speak Chinese at home, India children def are the higher scorers in the subject.
So i think for once MOE has made a good move here!! And of course when selecting they will be selecting those who prob have been speaking English as a 1st language and it will be clear so don’t worry!! -
RE: All About Montessori
