hello! I'm yet another mum with no piano background and looking for a piano for my kid who's just started learning piano since a yr ago. Deliberating between getting a brand new one (U1J perhaps, as this model was intro by his piano teacher - but cost abt 6K) or 2nd hand, as I'm kinda concerned about the interest sustainability. πŸ˜›

Was looking around and was offered 2.6k for Yamaha E116 (20yrs old). Did some Googling but can't seem to find much information about this model in Singapore.

Hoping to seek out some good advices here from the more knowledgeable lot. πŸ˜‰

      Thanks!

hi kiasuguru, nice to meet u too! :rahrah:

I suppose most parents for 2017 enrollment have received the letter from BPPS already?

Hi, hopefully can get some help out here from experienced parents. πŸ™‚

I'm on the lookout for student care nearby BPPS for my P1-going boy in 2017. I've checked online and came across these few around the vicinity. Wonder if any parent has any comments on the following?

      - Bukit Panjang Student Care Centre @ Pending Road
      - Moral Student Care Centre @ Blk 141
      - I thought there was one at Cashew heights, but it seems no longer in operation?

      Thanks! :rahrah:

Hi eileenpxp86, what's ur take on the student care at cashew heights condo? That's in my shortlist but I've yet to inquire with them.

The other student care I know of is run by Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, Blk 141 Petir Road.

    • RE: All About Wushu

Hi fellow parents, does anyone have a good recommendation at Bukit Panjang/CCK area?

I’ve signed up my 5.5yo at a CC based wushu class for about 4-5 wks already, but I don’t quite like the way the class is conducted. Find that there are way too many kids (I’ve to agree the fees are very cheap) but not enough coach to focus on really teaching the child the accurate wushu skills. Yet they are required to go for so-called grading every few months at a fee, which I’m quite doubtful of the skills the child will really qualify at that level of belt-color.
      TIA!

Same as JOelmo, I'm keen to get more info on BPPS and Zheng Hua PS. πŸ™‚

Is there any open house for both schools?

      Thanks!

Hi Gina, thanks a lot for your honest sharing! The student ratio is indeed better for KRTC. I didn't find out about the make-up lessons for both centres though. Thanks for this tip, I had better enquire as well.
So is your child back with KRTC again? Is it Junction 10 branch?

      Thanks!

      Hi LDmom,
No, the MS teachers' comments had impact him, he has refused to take up any tuitions. Now I am looking into Superstar teachers as he was keen on. Have you tried it as the review was pretty good.

Oh that sounds bad! I'm looking at P1 Preparatory classes (my son is just K2 now :p) and the last thing I want is to create a negative impression on my boy for such external academic classes!
I've heard about Superstar Teacher but only from TV ads. But since its just to prep him for P1, maybe not in my consideration at this stage. I'm just looking for somewhere nearer to home. πŸ™‚

Hi, does any parents here have your kids with MS's (BP plaza branch) P1 English and Maths Head Start program? May i know the teacher-student ratio and your comments about this program?

I've enquired with Kent Ridge Education Centre (Junction 10) and found it not too bad. But looking at the fees, seems like MS is cheaper, comparing based on the class duration (only).

      Thanks!!

Hi, not sure if you have read my previous comment? My child has attended both KRTC and MS and due to the time conflict, I have switched him from KRTC to MS this year. Importantly, the teachers at KRTC is much more passion and understanding. Yes, in terms of the fees, MS is cheaper, but looking at the overall. The student ratio is 16/class and KRTC is 5-8 and the teachers are not able to cope such a big group as per my experience. Not to forget, the makeup lesson is flexible. Unlike MS, it is NO unless school letter of activity or MC to verify but subject to the availability of others class. I have a hard time to get my refund back even though my child was asked to go for immediate withdrawal and the attitude of the management is pretty bad. Lastly, I would like to emphasize again that the acceptance of high score as a misleading of their popularity. The teachers have claimed that their paper is very challenging and majority students have failed, so what do you think if the children will lose interest in the long run?
