I don't like to study outside.every time need to go toilet, must pack up and bring everythmg along. Thencome back space occupied by others.
I honestly don't like studying outside either haha but I can't study at home and I really need to pull up my grades so I need to find a nice place to study
haha idk I just leave my stuff there usually no one takes them (I've seen people leave their laptops on tables and leave the store a few times)

Starbucks, McDonald and fast food restaurants are anything but conducive place for study.

NLB building. Upper levels such 7th floor onwards are big and spacious and quiet too.
Yeah, I guess. But, I usually study after school and its not really convenient to go from school to the NLB building and then back home

RE: Conducive places to study
Haha idk what topic this would be under so I just chose the most suitable one…
Anyways, does anybody know of a good public place to study? I can’t seem to focus at home so I’ve been trying to find a good place to study (especially because my end of year exams are comic soon and right now we’re having practice tests that will affect our overall score…)
I know that "libraries" or "school" are often the most common suggestions but I don’t have a library within walking distance from my house (because if I feel like studying till late, I can get home quicker without having to take public transport) and my school library closes at 5 and our canteen is kind of scary when it’s empty ><
Changi and places like Starbucks and McDonald or other fast food restraunts are also mentioned a lot but Changi is too far away for me (and I know that many other students go there too so it might be a little crowded adding all the other people in Changi) and I’ve been going to Starbucks recently, but I think it’s too pricey and the blender sound is distracting sometimes…
Also, just to add on, are people allowed to study in the Singapore tourism court (orchard spring lane) or Camden medical centre? Haha these kinda give you an idea of where I live…
(I’m sorry this post is kind of fussy…)
Thanks in advance

RE: Secondary 2 Streaming
Hi, so I'm currently in sec2, going to sec3 next year, but I'm a little um ambivalent towards the subject combination I got:
English
Chinese
E.Math
Pure Biology
Pure Chemistry
Full Geography
Elect.Lit+Social Studies
I think it's actually quite a good combination but because the standard of my math this year was very poor, I didn't get A.Math. I've also tried to appeal but it wasn't successful
I want to know what my chances will be for getting into ACJC because I don't have A.Math. I've asked my friends and all of them have told me that it'll be easier to get in with A.math so I'm a little worried... Also, my tuition teacher keeps talking about how I'll be at the short end without A.math and it's getting me quiet restless about the whole thing..
Also, I Know that I'm just sec2 going on to 3 so i still have some time, and i also know that there are other good JCs other than ACJC but as of right now, it's the JC I want to go to so I'd like to know my chances of acceptance with these 7 subjects.
Thanks

RE: Singapore Chinese Girls School (Secondary)
phtthp:
Secondary 1:for 2012 Secondary 1 -
how many classes had been allocated to own affliated P6 SCGS girls ?
how many 'top' classes and 'mixed ability' classes ?
for 2012 Secondary 3 & 4 -
how many pure Science classes ?
In lower sec, generally, the class ranking from top class to lowest class is Sincerity (SY) , Courage (CO) , Generousity (GY) , Service (SE) , Perseverence (PE) , Grace (GR) & Prudence (PR)
The best classes are SY,CO(SY being the best of the best)
The class Generosity (GY) is in-between \"best\"&\"intermediate\"
Intermediate classes (if you would call it that) are SE&PE
GR&PR are supposedly the worst classes by grades, however, it is possible for them to \"move up\" classes in Sec2. Just like how it is possible for those from the best classes to drop.
The affiliation is somewhat difficult to explain...
BASED ON THE 2010 P6 BATCH/2011 SEC 1 BATCH
The students who score just around the cut off point for affiliation usually go to GR or PR (Around 210&220)
Those who pass that point and get around 23/24+ get into PE,SE&GY
Students who pass the nation-wide cut off point get into SY&CO
BUT
It's not definite...ish. If a class has no more space, it is possible for a student to get moved to a lower class
Eg: The class GY has no more vacant spaces, if amongst the PSLE scores, your daughter is one of the lower ones, she will be placed in SE
Same goes for DSA students.
However, the 2012 secondary 1 banding is really messed up. It's as if the class rankings have changed, and I'm not so sure about it. Some students who got 23+ and one who got 260 got into PR. But if you ask the students the class ranks, it'll still be SY CO GY SE PE GR PR
Upper Sec sciences:
I'm not sure what you mean by \"how many\" but in upper sec every student will take a pure science. there is Pure Chemistry Pure Biology and Pure Physics. Triple Science would be taking all the pure sciences, combine science would be either Chem-bio or Chem-phys but it's two pure sciences.
Single science is usually Pure Chem only, but they will give options of pure bio only. But it depends on how many students opt. For single bio during steaming. If it's not enough, it won't be an option.
Basically ALL the sciences are pure, it just depends on whether you get Trip. Sci, comb. Sci or single sci. The science combination usually decides the class you'll get into.....but every class takes pure science
