Just curious on certain options available and the reasons behind it.
Looking into caregiver issues parents in singapore face for a project.
It’ll be best if you could answer all, if not just answer any number of questions, it’ll be useful too!
Thank you for your help. I really appreciate you taking some time to fill this up:)
1. If grandparent’s are able to look after child, would you choose them to look after or prefer infant care/babysitter. And why?
2. Choosing between maid & babysitter. Which & why?
3.Choosing between babysitter & infant/child care center. Which & Why?
4.Other options
E.g
- sending child for few hours kindergarten/childcare/playgroup & the rest of the time taken care by yourself/
-Few hours school + babysitter/grandparents
-babysitter+maid
- grandparents+maid
Etc…
5. A number of key things (in the order of importance) that you’ll look out for in your child’s caregiver, be it babysitter or infant care)

RE: Bathing in childcare
They should have chairs for them to sit.
The teachers will make them sit and they will learn. ( which i think its not very practical but the kids do learn )
Depending on the class size also. If there are a lot of them they wont get all of them to change out all at oneshot. They should have a teacher to help take the kids clothes off when its near their yurn.
If the class is small they will prolly just get all to go at one time -
RE: Bathing in childcare
Not all child care centers operate this way. They should have at least one teacher to be outside to receive the children once they are done with the shower.
But yes most centers get all the kids to strip first and sit in the toilet and wait till its their turn but once they are done they will return to the classroom/outside to keep their things/play toys. -
RE: Good childcare in Bishan or Toa payoh?
Maybe you could try Happy family child care center on the way to the mrt.

RE: Playgroup in Bishan/Thomson area
Hi you could look for other home-schooled kids and have a get together:)
If you are not looking for a school for her to learn stuff but just to socialise and have fun, you can have meet up sessions with other mums.
Other playgroups would include appletree playgroup, bright starts montesorri.
Or you could send her for enrichment lessons for fun where she will get to mix with children her age like arts, music, dance lessons. -
RE: Pre-N, Kindergarden - Religious must be the same?
I don’t think you have to be the same religion though some church based kindergarten give piority to their church members.

RE: PM cc in north, or east area?
Possible to bring No2 for enrichment classes while no1 is at Playgroup?
Then afternoon you can spend time with both. -

Some suggestions-
I’m not too sure about the academic standards but i thought the activities at star learners are pretty interesting which will leave impressions on the child which will probably give the kid a good foundation. However, i feel the class size a little too big.
Kinderland probably prepares the child well.Have seen a teacher carry out a lesson(Learning alphabets) She first started by reinforcing what they had learnt (eg K is for?.. kids answer…) And they did well:)After which she started on the alphabet they were going to learn that day.
However the kinderland at pemimpin seems abit run down.
If you don’t mind travelling there’s one at carmichael and one at hougang.
Some other centers that you may want to check out.
Agape little uni, red schoolhouse and cherie hearts at midview city.
I think a smaller group of pupils will definitely aid in improving academic standards.
If you don’t mind kindergartens/few hour programmes you could try out bright start montesorri. -
RE: Moving Home with a 2yr old
Hi not too sure if this will help but i think most parent-accompanied classes do not have big outdoor playarea as there’s no need for it(unless they are run by a school/kindergarten).most playgroups are academic based…
Not too sure exactly what there is available, but below are some which may be useful.
-Weecare
-Bibinogs
-Julia Gabriel
-D’story club
-Buttercups montesorri
-totsville montesorri(Pretty well known for good montesorri programme)
-Charis montesorri
-Kindermusik
