    • RE: Victoria School

      Hi Mummies and Daddies,

Would you mind sharing which primary school your DS was from before aiming for Victoria School? Would like to research and consider the primary schools for my DS and hope he can get in Victoria School too! I know it depends on the child academic level but would also like to give it a try to let him have a good start like your DS..

      :thankyou:

    • RE: Ngee Ann Primary

Thank you phttp for your Super fast reply! Didn’t know about the AL score until you mention it .. and did some research,

      a) 225 points divide by 4 subjects = 56.25 marks for each subject ?

According to the AL table from MOE : https://i.postimg.cc/tCYwGmcb/049362-C7-6004-43-C9-B4-CA-2219735-BBA09.png\">

The child has to get each subject at least AL5 ( 65 - 74marks ) to be safe, because AL6 is (45 - 64marks) can be risky.

To covert to AL score for 225 points , the kid need to get (AL5 x 4 subjects = 20 PSLE AL score ).

And referring to the streaming criteria in order to get in Express stream , the score is 4 - 20 PSLE AL score.

      Am I right? 🕺

      B) fair enough for students for non affiliated schools :hi5:

      C) good to hear as the Ngee Ann primary school standard is getting better :rahrah:

      Useful link to share: https://www.moe.gov.sg/microsites/psle/

      :thankyou: phttp!

    • RE: Ngee Ann Primary

      Hi Mummies and Daddies,

As I know that the affiliation point to go in Ngee Ann Secondary is 225, May I know how many percent of children from Ngee Ann primary managed to get in? Will Ngee Ann primary school Teachers make sure the children at least hit 225 points to at least make it for their affiliated secondary school? 🤷

Coz I read it somewhere that Ngee Ann secondary increased their affiliated cop so there will not be so many students entering from their affiliated school ..then what’s the point of having affiliation? :?

Or the school want to increase the standard of Ngee Ann primary so they increase the affiliation cop.. ? :scratchhead:

Hope any parents can help to clear my doubts .. thank you!

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Thank you floppy for sharing too! :thankyou:

I am still researching what other schools my children can go .. I’m staying along Bedok Reservoir Road..

      Schools available :
Telok Kurau Primary School (within 1km)
      Eunos Primary School (within 1km)
      Maha Bodhi ( within 1km)

      Damai primary school ( 1km -2km)
      St Stephen primary (1km -2km)

Looking at the schools nearby, Maha bodhi definitely my 1st choice under phase 2C

If i didn’t get into Maha Bodhi, those schools above will be my choice for phase 2Cs .. among those schools, which is better? Or is there any other schools you can recommend? Any bad reviews abt the schools mentioned above?

I am open to boys or girls school if the school environment is better than the schools mentioned above..

I heard about Haigs girl and Paya Lebar Methodist girl..which is better? both are more than 2km away.. should I do PV work for Paya Lebar girls to get in phase 2B or my chances are slim for any schools that are more than 2km?

Schools more than 2km to consider:
      - Haig Girl
      - Paya Lebar Methodist girls (affiliates to Paya Lebar Methodist girl secondary)
      - Tanjong Katong primary
      - Geylang Methodist primary
      :frustrated: 🤷 :imdrowning:

Your advice will be much appreciated!! :udawoman: :udaman:

    • RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

      Hi Mummies and Daddies,

Need some advice in choosing school.. My 1st choice is Maha Bodhi but under phase 2C (I stay within 1km from school). However Maha Bodhi is a popular school which I still worried even I am staying within 1km. And it’s not easy to be member in SBF..

I was looking at Tao Nan or Kong Hwa ( both more than 2km) and planning to join SHHK to get in phase 2B..

I may not know if my DD can get in Maha Bodhi so I thought of trying the phase 2B for Tao Nan or Kong Hwa ..

My DD registration for P1 is in 2021. I have a boy born in 2017 and i would prefer mixed school so no need to headache for my Son again ..

Any advice from my lovely parents? :frustrated: :thankyou:
