Hmm…it depends on the age of your child? I don’t know much about Primary school…but my ex-students who were in secondary school used to confide in me when they were stressed. The most obvious signs towards their parents were:
Decreased in Communication towards parents
Increase in tantrums (Guys mostly)
Increasing online activities (a creative student of mine created a blog to reach out to other similar "emo" students)
Interestingly though, their sources of stress were mostly social though. Its often relationship problems, or friendship issues. Hope this helps!

Learning Styles: Myth or Science?
Here's just a question of the wall...
Many people recognize that each person prefers different learning styles learning techniques. From what I gather from the net, there are basically 4 styles: Aural, Visual, Kinesthetic.
I was wondering is there is actually real science behind this and if its really a big deal? What do you say? Is it really useful?

RE: [Kallang] Tutors/Tuition Centres/Enrichment
Hi…I am not a parent…however as an ex tutor I would think that it should be ok. Some quality tutors host their services in their own homes or in public areas such as community centers and school campus. they do so because they wish to have a small group to teach but lack the venue. The main concern should be about quality of teaching and teaching material. However since you mentioned your child is in primary school, and if i assume he is lower primary then safety could be a concern as well.

RE: All About Finding & Evaluating Tutors
Yes...I shared similar experiences which is why I am keen to provide a free platform for tutors to their own advertising without coordination cost. However I need a better understanding of what are the search concerns of parents. Without this understanding, it would be a pretty one-sided affair... :(. Anyone with insights?

Original Title: How To Find & Evaluate Tutors?
Hi,
I was interested in finding out what are some of the problems you face when finding the right tuition teacher and how did you go about seeking for a good tutor e.g. engaging a tuition coordinator etc? What are the major concerns you look out for when looking for a new tutor?
The reason is that I am keen to start up a free online service to pair prospective parents with available tutors. However I am not sure how can I improve the search experience for you guys, so any advise would be cool! -
RE: All About Market Rates of Private Tutors
wow…seriously…180 dollars is a little too much. However, just figuring, I have fellow tutors who charge 50 dollars per hour for pri sch english and are still undergrads. Is that actually ok?
