of cos potential is a contributing factor but potential is subjective - just like \"all schools are good schools\" ๐ฌ

RE: Singapore Sports School
Hi
I donโt think they cap the intake. As long as your kid shows aptitude and interest they will take in,
Only the top of the crop get scholarships so they need kids who will pay the full fees (estimated at 900 every 5 weeks for those with no subsidies )
In summary, just apply and will most likely get in, just depends on whether as a parent you are willing to fork out the fees should kid not able to get a scholarship.
I am just being completely honest here, my boy has been in spp for almost 9 months already. -

RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
I need some advice , my kid cut off point is in between. Most of the choices in my neighbourhood have quite high cut offs.
What is the variant for entry into a school? Eg the cut off point is 235, my boy got 3-5 points less, should I even try as 1st choice? School is next door to my home.
Does it make sense to choose a school outside of my neighbourhood just because it is a safe bet? (based on cut off point t-score, son meets and should have no problem getting in)
really at a loss and not sure what to do. -
RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)
can anyone shed light on this T score calculation eg
3A and 1C - Tscore is 202
2A 1B 1C - Tscore is 212
3A and 1A* - Tscore is 238
Computer got error? Thanks -
RE: Singapore Sports School
I donโt think so, you may want to check out grab and ryde - I know they have car pool for students but not sure about costs involved. Your child is not planning to stay in?

RE: DSA 2018
hi all
let me share kids profile for dsa sports - he is from sap school - not super smart but consistent - results range from 70s to 80s except for mother tongue which is pass only. Saving grace is sports which he has played consistently since P2 and member of school team since P4 - the school has consistently resched quarter finals of national school games for past 3 years and he is a member snd key player - for dsa he tried 4 schools:
1. SSP
2. Maris
3. VS
4. SJI
At trials ( i counted average of 20-25 kiids except SSP) , my boy came in top 3. Despite this he was not sucessful at VS. I can only assume VS not only looks at sporting ability but results. I think the days of just beijg good at the sport you dsa into are over - studies are impt too. Kid has decided to go to SSP. As much as I wish he will tske the main stream option, I respect his decision and will support him wholeheartedly. Thank you all parents in this forum for your support and since there is little info about life in SSP I hope that I will be able to provide some insights via updates from
next year onwards! Best of luck to all kids in their psle
