    • RE: Chongfu Primary

if the teacher will teach them the spelling & dictation words in class, i’m more relieved. i thought die already lah! once P1 starts i can kiss good bye to all weekend activities and have to cram my kids will all kinds of stuff such as tingxie & spelling just to ensure she can keep up with the pace of lessons.

      guess i’m too paranoid & over-reacted.

    • RE: Chongfu Primary

my daughter just started P1, & boy, am i so pissed. although the school claim to be holistic, but i feel the expectation are quite high (maybe it’s just me). 1st week already bought back list of spelling words including words like elbow, shoulder & 1 line dictation.

i thought 1st year is supposed to be honeymoon period? by the time i reach home & settle down after dinner it’s already 8pm, & my daughter has to sleep by 9pm otherwise next morning can’t wake up at 6am for school bus. (thankfully we don’t live in tampines/Jurong or some obscure corner in singapore)

sigh. sorry for the long rant, but i just feel like i’m drowning. how is it that my own parents can be so laissez-faire during our time, & now i’m so stressed? i don’t even expect my DD to be top, i only want her to blend in, average can keep up good enough, no need to be singled out for punishment for not handing in homework, getting big fat ZERO for spelling etc?

any suggestions from experienced parents how to smoothen children’s transition into P1?

    • RE: Why Most Singaporeans Are in Debt

when i got married last decade, we spent total $100 on wedding rings, use the surplus from buffet lunch at void deck to finance our honeymoon to medan. but i’ve insisted on a small hole-in-wall apartment that’s used for rental income (becos my hubby can’t buy HDB with me as he already has 1 with his parents).

The 40K that most couple uses for wedding is used as downpayment, and we’ve been collect rental for last 8 yrs, much more satisfying than spending thousands on wedding shots that would be thrown into storeroom, collecting dust.

    • RE: My mother can't control/handle my notti 5yo

Usually i try to tekan my kids and physically exhaust them, that way, only when they're dead tired then only will i be able to have some peace. my 4 year old son has some adjustment issues attending the new childcare after we moved. but after a day of quarantine at home with nothing but boredom for company, now he's more well-behaved as he feels that school is interesting.

although try to see if their hyper activity sets in after heavy meal? some kids get \"sugar-high\" after high carbo meals i.e, macdonalds, or ice creams, and are more difficult to control. that being to case, best to allow them to burn off energy in a safe environment 1st. you'd be less likely to become bald from the hair tearing behavkour.

    • RE: Amendment on air ticket

I don’t know about other airlines, but for airasia, they do offer tax refund for airtickets that are not boarded. just that it takes 2 months for the money to be credited back to the card you paid the tickets with. the money won’t be much though, but better than nothing.

    • RE: Amendment on air ticket

i’ve experienced the same problem last year. jetstart allows you to change if you spot the same mistake and do correction within 12 or 24 hours (can’t remember, but something like same day). allows change without charge if you fax them the passport of passenger within same day. but thenafter, there’s a change imposed i think.

as for silkair/SQ flights, if your ticket is sales fare, too bad, you’d have to pay admin fee of i think $50 applies no matter what’s the scenario for wrong name.

    • RE: Do you think things are getting riddiculous expensive?

even the cost of instant coffee (eg. nescafe) has gone up from $3.90 to $6.20 within 2 years. plus everything i stock up milk powder (i usually clear the shelves when they either having buy 1 free 1 or exchange empty tin promos), i notice they’d change packaging with a 20-30% price hike few months later. when will i get a 20% pay hike within few years? Dan Gu Gu.

    • RE: Club 2006 Kids

      no longer 养儿防老 but 养儿烦恼

BTW, anybody staying at Khatib area has kids studying at Praiseland? Any comments or feedback as i’d be putting my kids there in November, due to shifting of house.

or any mid-range childcare (after subsidy) about $300-500 to recommend?

i’m a lazy mom, who prefer a centre that can "cover mountain cover sea" phonics, Speech & Drama, chinese, music all included so that i don’t have to be a public-chauffer and take the MRT/Bus all over island to attend lessons.

MTM, sorry about the PM this morning, as i only manage to figure out the public post button now. paiseh.
