• RE: Good Korean food!

zac's mum:
Anyone know where we can get good Soondubu Jjigae in Singapore? Itโ€™s a type of spicy tofu stew but does NOT contain any kimchi.

DH keeps craving this soup ever since he tried it overseas, but it is very rare in Singapore. He hates kimchi so he canโ€™t stand kimchi soups.

Any pointers on which authentic Korean restaurants in SG serve this would be appreciated! Or even better, where to buy the stock so I can learn how to cook it for him! Thank u!
Not sure is this the one U are looking for?

Capricon:
How many overnight camps are required In Secondary 1 and 2? What is the duration of the overnight camps? Are they compulsory? Please advise. Thanks.

Think Sec 1 overnight camping is during the Orientation day. For Sec 2 overnight camping, will be another 3 days 2 nights at outward bound place.

Some CCAs will also hv overnight camping. so maybe max 2x overnight camping per year?

Actually IPhone is very user-friendly for elderly. My mom and uncle who do not how to read Chinese / English character are able to use the iPhone very comfortably. They even learn to play games / watch video from iPhone.
Hi, can i check....

If my husband and son is baptized as Catholic, but we stay more than 2km from Catholic High. Does my son qualify for 2B phase?
Thanks in advanced!

chan
Yes, you are qualified to register in Phase 2B, but you might not have the ce.

if we were to compare these 2, which one you reckon will have higher chance...
my son is born 2014, so P1 will be in 2021...

1) my husband and son is baptized as Catholic, but we stay more than 2km from Catholic High.
2) within 2km from Nan Chiau, but will do PV all the way.

If i'm not wrong, both will be in Phase 2B?
For #1 above, is there a way to do PV in order to increase the chance?

Please enlighten me... Thanks!
1. Decide whether you want Nan Chiau or Cat High for P2B. Then shift your home to within 1 km of the school.
2. If only have boys, Cat High would be choice, if hv girls.. then Nan Chiau might be the option.

happy5:
Hi all, any feedback and comments on this sch pls? Thks

Overall, the school is good for neighbourhood school. The Principal and Discipline Master are very strict on the behaviour and attire of the students. No physical bullying heard of so far in the school, maybe except some \"teasing\" of other students, which I find is common.

The school allowed their students to go nearby Seletar Mall but expect them to behave well in the Mall. The Mall will feedback to the school if they see any students misbehaving there. Example : Loitering around, playing catching, making lots of noises..

The school will have \"Class Competition\" among the Sec 1 level occasionally, in which the winning class might get some prizes? For my son's sec one, they have basketball competition and Frisbee competition, in which some students will be selected for the competition while the rest as cheering group. They also have Chinese New Year's decoration competition among the Sec 1 level.

For teachers, so far, my son's form teacher is young and passionate with the students. She is also quite committed in teaching them. Think their Sec 1 and Sec 2 teachers will be the same. As my son's form teacher will not be teaching next year, she said their Sec 2's form teacher will be someone that the class is familiar with.

The only thing my son complained about the school is the Camp.. He find there are too many camps that required overnight stay. 2 overnight camps in Sec 1 (1 for his CCA and 1 for the Sec 1 orientation) and another in Sec 2. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

mommyNg:
My friend has this problem. Her DD was unsuccessful from Sch A but received a CO from Sch B. Her choice school is really Sch A. Now her dilemma is whether to reject CO from Sch B and try her best in PSLE to enter her dream Sch A (but risky because you won't know the results until Nov), or to accept CO from Sch B but with possible regret if PSLE results good enough to enter Sch A?

Any parents with past experiences (successful and unsuccessful ones) to share?
I would suggest wait till after she take her PSLE. How confident she is with the papers before deciding whether to accept the CO or not?
