May I clarify where you hear that NUS High students can take German from NUS?

check this out

https://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/cls/courses/index.html#languagemodules

All NUS High students, are affliated to NUS (National University of Singapore)
come Year (5 and 6), NUSH students will be studying at NUS campus
for foreign languages, they can start earlier, from Sec 1, if they don't want to travel down so far to MOELC (Bishan)

Which part of the article says that Nus high students can take German (or any other foreign languages) at nus? Please post it here.

headache, for students studying in Cambridge

From now till summer 2021, is a long time. Got online lectures, ok. At least, still got lecture. But what the students missing out during this long period of time, are the several sessions of lab work, involved. This covid-19 really caused severe problems
Large group lectures will be done online, but for supervisions where most of the important teaching is done, it is likely face to face, on campus. Supervision is like our local uni tutorial system except that it is 1 supervisor to 1 student, or 1 to 2, so social distancing should not be a problem.

For local unis, I think online lectures (at least for large group) are going to stay too.
The only way to get 13AUs is 3H3, 4H2, PW and GP (3+8+1+1). SHE must be a once in a generation talent for MOE to make an exception to their own guidelines (HCI is correct to describe the student as such). My guess is she must have a long list of referees willing to vouch and write in for her.

13AUs is 2H3, 4H2, PW, GP and MT (2+8+1+1+1), I believe

While it’s still 13AUs, it should rightfully be presented as 12+1 AU. However, that would have contradicted MOE policy and guidelines of 11+1 AUs and treatment of H3/H2 subjects. If an exception can be made for 2H3 and 4H2, you can be sure that maybe half of RI / HCI would be clamoring for it. For MOE to deviate, it has to be an unusual case for a once-in-a-generation talent 😂

TBH For HCI, I doubt the brightest pupils have HCL to contend with, especially so when the student likely came from a top SAP school. I doubt the 9 distinctions would include MTL.
From Wiki
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_college_%28Singapore%29
H1 subjects are worth 1 Academic Unit (AU), H2 subjects 2 AUs, H3 subjects 1 AO and students are expected to take a minimum of 10 AUs (viz. 3H2+1H1) and a maximum of 12 AUs (viz. 4H2+1H3) inclusive of Mother Tongue Language (MTL)

Note that when schools report the number of distinctions in A-level Results, it is inclusive of MTL. Taking 2H3s is considered an exception and approval from MOE is required; I’ve never heard of anyone being allowed to take 3H3s.

Need to look at the ESIS for that year to have an understanding of the cutoff point

EESIS/ESIS COP
Year in P6
2019 - 261
2018 - 260
2017 - 262
2016 - 262
2015 - 262
2014 - 258
2013 - 258
2012 - 262
2011 - 260
2010 - 260
2009 - 261
2008 - 263
2007 - 264
2006 - 262

Which in this case, has no correlation 😂

There is. There was a drop of ESIS COP (year in P6, 2012 to 2013) of 4 when RV COP (year entering Sec 1, 2013 to 2014) was dropped by 5 pts.

Yes, one really have to make sure they really have the passion in Maths and Science to to go thru the 6 yrs of studies.

The child has strong wish to opt for NUS high but people around the parents are telling us it's too early to specialise.

\"Do not close the doors of the child\" are their advise.
Why would the doors be closed? Some students went on to do Law, Architecture, Business, Arts & Social Sciences etc. just to name a few, in the uni

Ya, she herself is keen to go. I asked her to “let go” after heeding my friend’s advice. Selected for training doesn’t mean will win in competition as MO prizes are usually swept up by the boys. Girl just stare at me for a long time, :skeptical: I guess she understood what I mean...

Not really. Last year, 5 out of top 10 in SMO Junior were girls. In fact, top 3 were all girls!

Ocbc has a promotion for savings book deposit. Every 10k earmarked 6 mths will get $110 NTUC FP vouchers. Effective rate about 2.25% pa.

Check

I thought the interest rate is only 0.05% ?

$110 vouchers 6 mths for $10k is about 2.2% pa, add to 0.05%, is 2.25%
