I did H2 Geog, and personally, I would have thought that H2 History is more content-heavy, but take it with a pinch of salt because I didn't take History. I don't know if the syllabus has changed, but back then we did 3 topics of Human Geog and 3 topics of Physical Geog. In truth, I only studied 2 topics from each for the essays, and knew just enough to do the Data Response Questions. Worked fine for me.

I found Geog pretty straightforward (Science track in Secondary school, didn't do Geog after Sec 2), and scoring seems to be more consistent than History (certainly was the case when I was in HCI Humanities Programme at least). As long as you have good exam technique, it isn't hard to score in my opinion. I find Geog much easier than History, but it might be a personal preference.

Geog is definitely more content heavy than hist. If he plans on taking H2 bio, I would strongly advise against taking h2 geog. The amount to memorize for both subjects would be crazy. Over half my class took H2 hist - many of them complained that it was as bad as taking 2 whole subjects. Probably because there's a southeast Asian and international history split, making it quite a lot of different content to study. H1 hist only has SEA hist though.

Hi b2b3m4, regarding using thermal pot to cook rice, if I cook my rice at around 2 pm and eat dinner at around 7 pm, do I need to reheat the rice when I come back? For hygiene purpose, is it safe to just eat rice without reheating? Also will the rice be warm at around 7 pm? I understand DHS does give quite a bit of worksheet, papers etc. Are those sufficient for A level preparation or do the students have to purchase additional assessment books, material etc to do well? THanks in advance.

No need for extra assessments at all. Most content subjects will require students to buy 10 yr series and may use that in class. Other than 10 yr series school will also print past yr school papers and other jc papers. Not all are compulsory but you must pay for those. That should be more than enough already. Before each exam (say, CTs) school will print 2-3 dhs past yr paper. After the exam you will have access to other JCs' CTs paper for that year (normally 5-8 will be made available for printing). Come prelims you get another round of everything and you still have 10yr series. That's like 32 sets of full paper for ONE subject. Cannot finish one, so you don't have to worry

I think I only completed around 70% of the papers I had by the end of a-levels, and I didn't buy any extra assessments.

I guess teachers in the school change over time (and more frequently now it seems, which I don't really like but anyway...) so I think my teachers especially JH ones may not be teaching in DHS anymore by now. However, I must say that there are quite a few long serving teachers who are really dedicated and well-loved by students. Total respect to them.

I really like the culture in DHS, which many people will describe as 'family-like'.

Gearhat- thanks for your inspiring posts. We parents tend to panic when our kids do not do well. You are really sensible to decide to study on your own for subjects you don't do well and lift them to As! Marvellous. All the best to your studies in UK! I am sure with your resilience, you will do extremely well in your chosen course.

Who are the students who make up the SBGE classes? Are they just the GEP students, or also mainstream high PSLE scorers (above what score roughly)? Are the students in the SBGE taught differently? Are they also enriched in certain subjects? Thanks in advance.

SBGE classes consist of GEP pupils and also high scorers mainstreamers of PSLE agg score of 27X.
But if there are over 50 students, some PSLE high scorers will be allocated to other classes,
which happened in my gal 's yr.
