RE: Singapore Chinese Girls School (Secondary)
My daughter joined SCGS Sec this week and I attended the parents briefing and orientation event last night. Was so impressed by how the girls came up with choreographed dance performances within 3 days and really seemed to gel and full of school spirit. The new principal sounds promising. So far so good, very pleased with the choice.

Hi 75Circle
Since your post is on this forum presume your daughter is joining Sec 1 or a higher level straight from Britain. For her admission assessment did she sit for the AEIS? If she was in British schooling all the way before, i.e. had not previously attended a Spore school, there will be a major adjustment so all the best! One of my kids moved when in lower primary and took a while to adjust.
My daughter who is just starting SCGS ( Secondary) is hoping there will be some diversity in the student population being a non-faith school and non SAP. Hope she won’t be disappointed. -

Hi bskHi
I would like to try via DSA(academic) route to this school.
My daughter s P5 result isn't very good. One A* and remaining As(85%).
Is there a chance to get via DSA academic ? If so what is the procedure
Really appreciate your suggestions
In my opinion (based on experience from this year) your daughter's score is good enough to apply. In addition to P5 and P6 SA1 results, they will also look at other achievements, the GAT results and interview. The school website will have the details of the application process next year. -

I went to the open house yesterday with DD and was told this:Anyone know how many Sec1 classes there are at SCGS?
How many for IP program?
How many for O-level program?
And what is the class size?
...trying to gauge chances of getting accepted there because last year's cut off point is two pts below my daughter's score and never know if the COP may go up. Between SCGS and a government school w same COP.
I heard govt school has more classes than independent. Anyone confirm that?
Thx for any feedback w above questions.
:thankyou:
- 4 IP classes and 4 O level classes
- each class has 30-32 girls
Good luck! -

My daughter is interested in going to SCGS but has concerns about the sleeveless uniform as she has some scars on her arm. She'd liked to know if it's ok to wear the school jacket during the school day instead of just when it's cold in the morning. Anyone able to advise please?Thank you grownearethesky.
Just wondering anyone can advise whether the girls are allowed to wear their own jacket to school in the morning or they can only wear the school approved jacket? If they can only wear the school approved jacket, where can we purchase it from as my girl is afraid of coldness in the morning?
Thank you. -

RE: Dental bills
Can anyone advise if employers are responsible for maid’s dental bills - for extraction and new dentures?
