HI,
Β Β Citrine bought twice as many pencils as notebooks and spent a total of $53.60. She spent $2.40 more on the notebooks than the pencils. Given that a notebook costs $1.90 more than a pencil, find the cost of a pencil.
The answer is 1.60 but i dont know the steps to solving this sum.
Thanks!

The cost of fuel to propel a boat through the water (in dollars per hour) is proportional to the cube of the speed. A certain ferry boat
uses $100 worth of fuel per hour when cruising at 10 kilometers per hour.
Apart from fuel, the cost of running this ferry is $675 per hour. At what speed should it travel so as to
minimize the cost per kilometer traveled?
