I am SAHD because of son condition. i just want to share with you my similar experience. My boy was also diagnosed with GDD at 2. He attended Rainbow and we went through many therapies.

Through the years, I have work very closely with the therapies & teachers, so as to better guide him at home. for example, we used to have a Speech-therapist from SPD, an Indian-national, many parents would not prefer him as he has strong Indian-English accent. However, he give good advices & materials. Based on these, I work on my boy daily without fail.

Today, my boy is 8 (going 9) attending P3 in mainstream neighbourhood school. He is a very talkative (fluent English) & have many friends. Well, not all rosy though, academically still struggling (below average) - but never fail. My wife and myself are very pleased & proud of him. We see him as a vehicle travelling at 20km/hr while others are speeding at 100km/hr, but so what eventually he will still get there

Had a few nightmares over the posting recently. I thought I should have peace of mind since applying back to affiliated Sch but geez...the nightmares felt so real. Hope that's not a bad sign that something unexpected is going to happen...

Relax, wife asked me whether I will have nightmare or sleepless night on Thursday, I told her I will have if girl 1st choice (Nanyang Girls - wife choice) really come true as I will be the Ahmad fetching & sending her to school all the way from Boon Lay.

Instead, I pray she enters RV (2nd choice) which is 5 min walk from home and cheaper. :imcool:

I do not know what constitutes a good school but I definitely know what a below-average neighbourhood school is.


Looking at the school past years PSLE achievements - not impressive, it was on downward trend, with students achieving t-score above 260 decreasing & percentage of retained students increasing. Then, as my girl will be taking PSLE this year, I feedback & hint to teacher & Principal over their strategy of 'adopting same approach but hoping for better outcome' but to no avail. :roll:

Well, we have to take it into hand to monitor & support in whatever ways we can. She got tuition for Chinese & Science, while, my wife personally taught her Maths. Thanks god, she did well - qualify to apply for top IP schools.

To summarize, all schools are good school - definitely big NO

After deliberating for many days, we sort of put the sequence as follow:

DD result: 258 and HMT merit, obtained EESIS

Location: Boon Lay

DD preference: All girls & SAP (if possible)

1 - NYGH (travel bus/mrt/walk 56 mins)
2 - RGS (travel bus/mrt/walk 51 mins)
3 - CHIJ St Nicholas (travel bus/mrt/walk 76 mins)
4 - RV (walk from home 8 mins)
5 - MGS (travel bus/mrt/walk 48 mins)
6 - SCGS (travel bus/mrt/walk 48 mins)

Appreciate any feedback or consideration that we may have omitted. Thanks.

My girl got 258 base score and MT merit. Eligible for EESIS, so now we are not sure whether first choice should be RGS (maybe got chance) or RV (sure can get).


If RV, there will be no use of EISIS but is within walking distance from house - 5 mins

Nowaday whenever there is heavy downpour better not drive, you will never know where the flood will be. If your car submerge in water :imdrowning: good luck to you given the current high COE & financing, unless you really dying for a particular car model but not able to convince your spouse to change car then go drive along Bukit Timah during heavy downpour :imcool:

For safety precaution better:
- wear helmet (ceiling collapse)
- wear raincoat (leakages)
- bring along oxygen tank & fire extinguisher (2 fire incidents)

Bought the 'How to talk to anyone' by Leil Lowndes, for my girl to help her to improve her communication with others.


Lately, out of the blue my P2 boy said he wanted to read thick book like everyone in the family, and grabbed the above book to read. Out of curiosity, I asked him what did the book said - he said when talk to girl must say their eyes are very beautiful :evil: :rotflmao:

I am a SAHD. My girl is P6 this year, and since P2 she has been keep calling me (using the school phone) daily during recess. Mostly to chit-chat, update on her daily happenings and sometimes on advice.


I have told her many times that she should use her recess time to mix around and socialize more with others rather than keep calling me, as when she back home she still can update me. I am trying to distant myself so that she can think and solve problems by herself.

I am confuse, is it my girl too attached to me or is it close bonding? Am I doing the right thing? :scratchhead:
