Nobody asked him if he also \"empty everything you got\" since God had spoken to his heart!!!
Concerned parents of City Harvest youths turn up for service

“I’m still okay with my son going for service at CHC – he’s grown up and it’s his choice, but I was worried when I found out you could make donations through credit card – he uses our supplementary card and I’m not comfortable with him donating to a church that I personally wish was more accountable,” said a bank executive, 56, who wanted to be known as Mr Lim.

I hope they hear for themselves his sermon in Presence Conference 2012 in Sydney. Here's an audio recording an US critic made (about 30mins long, move the clip forward to start from 39:30)
      http://www.fightingforthefaith.com/2012/04/kong-hees-fleecing-of-the-masses.html

Towards the end of his speech after trying to brainwash the audience that everyone must give before God returns the favour, KH asked the audience to give $100, then up the stake to $500, then $1,000, then $2,000 and FINALLY for those that God had spoken to their heart, they are told to \"empty everything you got\".

The whole speech is like a sales speech. Cutting the story short, people are asked to give, give and give.

You really must listen to the video. Totally shocking!
Why don't CHC members question KH & Sun Ho's lavish lifestyle here and in US, Why sold his business back to CHC (why not others? why must CHC?)? and how much assets he and his wife have currently? Why didn't he lead by example by donating all his business and assets to CHC instead of quoting others' example of downgrading 5 HDB to 3 HDB in order to donate the money to CHC? Did he contribute the monthly tithes and weekly offerings? Who funds the expenses of Sun Ho in US?

Not to mention the companies they engaged are helmed by their own people. How did they award all the contracts? Any tenders? Any best effort taken to ensure the most competitive bids???

I am sure some people are sore now their offering or tithe money were used to fund China Wine video.

his wife called herself a preacher, aspire to be some kind of International Hollywood entertainment singer, appear in \"China Wine\" dance movement. At the end of the show, she made some Remarks / comments about \"Bitches\"!

Never like the wife much but still thot she can sing Chinese songs reasonably.
I just saw the china wine video.....totally tasteless & low grass. The type of MTV I'll immediately switch off ..... wanted to give her benefit of doubt & watched that fancy free also. Now i really regret, spoil my day. Now ear sore eye sore. :imconstipated:
I share the same view!

    • RE: Real reason behind Singapore’s obsession with tuition

Not a fair apple to apple comparison le. It is unfair to those good teachers who are teaching in rich child schools (like A, M, NY, etc.) since those rich parents will engage tutor for their children anyway since money is not a concern and they are very busy. Logically, a poorer neighborhood school will have lesser pupils whose parents can afford tuition.

Hopefully, the drastic drop of students attending tuition means the education system has improved such that schools have taught well enough so that the kids do not need to learn the basics or extra from tuition centers. The trend is alarming and the more successful the tuition centers are, the more it means our education system has serious flaws.

Maybe MOE should reward schools with the least number of students having tuitions and give the teachers extra year end bonus !

    • RE: Real reason behind Singapore’s obsession with tuition

Unless we have a solution which can suggest to MOE, else we may not be better off if we complain and ask MOC to look into. They may come up some other system that is even worst!!

The current so called \"teach less, learn more\" system is to do away with the old system (after everyone complained about it for killing off the creativity of our people) of spoon-fed system/memorizing system and thus we are where we are now!

How can you learn more when you teach less in the very first place (to learn more, tuition lor). They teach very little grammar, creative writing, oral etc. They expected a young child (primary 1/2 level) with very little vocabulary to write flowery, creative composition (with no grammar error) and they teach less (almost did not teach or ineffective teaching for 1-2 lessons) but expect you to meet their high expectation. As almost every child attended tuition nowadays and learned from tuition centers, hence the exam results are always very good and it has not been alarming to MOE.

Thanks Melodies! Sometimes it is quite worrying seeing the \"holes\" becoming more and getting bigger as the years go by. And when these \"holes\" get reported in the news, the reply is always please get around the holes by \"seeking alternative paths\" !! But people already drop into the holes wonder how to seek alternative paths ? We parents have to constantly build planks or find detours to let our kids go up from one level to another. If more concerned parents are aware and question about the \"holes\" and request that we want a happy and effective path for our kids, maybe things will change for the better??

Sounds cool! I wonder which enrichment class which is mainly conducted in Japanese, french and german? Spanish is good to pick up now because they will have spanish as 3rd language eventually in secondary.

      Imami:
I speak hokkien. Had intended to teach my child hokkien too cos I think little children speaking dialects are so cool... :rotflmao: I see little ones speak French/Spanish/Japanese etc as their second/third language but I have not seen anyone speaking hokkien/teo chew yet. Cantonese got la, but I think they shd be excluded cos the family just moved to sg from honking.

Unfortunately, I don't have much opportunity to speak hokkien to my child although he listens a lot - I speak hokkien to hubby/my parents and parents in law. I don't think he understands it fully although sometimes he surprises me by answering correctly. Maybe I shd really start now, if not he would probably not pick up at all. :? Maybe not? Since he is already learning spanish and Japanese, on top of English and Chinese...?

Just in case anyone is curious - my child is attending one enrichment class which is mainly conducted in Japanese, french and german. He picks up Spanish from his cc teacher who can speak Spanish.

I like your hole analogy! it is very true. One of the hole is Schools are no longer doing much teachings nowadays and we have to fill up the gap by subscribing tuition for them to learn and they just go to school for enrichment classes and revision purpose :yikes: :siao:

In her class, I can't find any pupil who has not attended tuition class.
So far, I only can find a few pupils who just have 1 tuition class.

Maybe I funtion a little differently. I try to tell/show my kids the holes & tell them
\"You decide whether u want to drop into that hole or leap over it. Dun say I never tell u got hole there ah. Got 'eyes' cannot see, then too bad. 🤷

If u fall, I will be sad & cry for you. But u will cry louder cos' it will be YOUR life that will be affected more in long term.\"
      😉

But importantly, must also tell them if they tried their best but still fall, it's ok. We look for help Loh.

Our education system now is full of \"holes\" (\"gaps\") which are getting bigger, we as parents have to constantly warn our kids about the holes and build bridges across the holes so that our kids can progress. Many less privileged families don't even know about these \"new\" holes and their kids will just fall right into the holes and never can achieve their full potentials. We are all concerned parents here to discuss of ways to fill out these unnecessary holes and to prevent them to become one such big hole that our entire next generation all falls into it. Pardon me for this \"hole\" theory !
