Hi there, to clarify, are you referring to the school-based Science Practical Assessment taken by Pure chemistry students or the Science Practical Exams taken by combined chemistry students?

Is for combine science students šŸ™‚ . Thanks[/quote]Combined chemistry students will most likely be doing identification of unknown ions.

      1) It will be useful for the student to be familiar with this reference table.
It is page 36 in this document.

      http://www.seab.gov.sg/content/syllabus/olevel/2017Syllabus/5078_2017.pdf

This table will be provided during the practical, but I'll encourage them to be familiar with it before hand rather than try to make sense of it during the test itself.

      2) Basically, the test consists of following the instructions, writing down the observations and making conclusions.
Writing observations - the student can use the relevant phrases described in the table
Making conclusions - this part is largely dependent on the observations.

Students are usually stressed about making the conclusion but keeping things in perspective. The chemistry practical is \"only 7.5%\" and the conclusion part is an only small portion. There are more marks to make up for it in the theory papers.

      3) The questions are quite varied, so I will not try to \"predict\" anything more specific. I've seen past year papers on O-level practicals available in the bookshop, you can buy them to have a sense of the questions.
If however, you have specific questions, feel free to clarify.

      student101:
How to solve this compound interest problem!

A man deposited 2,000 into a bank that paid compound interest of 3.28% compound half yearly. He continued depositing $2,000 into the bank every six months.Calculate the amount of money he had after he made his fifth deposit of $2,000,giving your answer correct to the nearest cent.

I need help to solve this question in an easy way acceptable for O level. Also I have a doubt about whether the interest given(3.28%) is annual interest or half year interest as in the question,it is not mentioned clearly.
      Thanks
It is rather ambiguous, I'm leaning towards the interest as per annum, otherwise they might as well word it such that the deposits are made every year and ask the for the amount after the 5th year.

Breaking down the timeline might be the easiest way to explain to a student.

      After 1st deposit : 2000
      After 2nd deposit : 2000 x 1.0164 + 2000 = 4032.8
      After 3rd deposit : 4032.8 x 1.0164 + 2000 = 6098.9379
      After 4th deposit : 6098.9379 x 1.0164 + 2000= 8198.961
      After 5th deposit : 8198.961 x 1.0164 + 2000= 10333.42

Need to soak the chia seeds? I have one packet.

I've read that soaking them allows us to absorb its nutrients better.

I usually mix the resulting gel-like substance with jam spreads.
