    • RE: is it possible to teach p4 math ourselves?

      Hi all mummies,

i do face the same problems as most of the mummies.
i engage private tutor, one to one coach to teach my daughter. she is currently p4 in ATS.
yes, i agreed. when she was in p1, p2, maths no problem, band 1. p3 band 2.
To tell u all, when come to p4, i dont know why, or maybe she still cannot adapt to her p4 style, or standard, she dropped to b3, which is only border line for her maths. i get worried. she was very sad when she got back her results.
i spoke to her tutor regards her maths, and we tried our best to help her.
come to SA1, she went to her battle again. but still, border line.
of course, i am angry with her, and dun know what happen to her and something must be wrong somewhere else.
Actually, do come to my mind, i tried to engage another tutor, which mean that 2 maths tutor for her. i did told my current tutor about the matter. but she discourage me. She told me that if i engage another tutor for her, she had to stop teaching my girl. the reason is the more maths tutor she facing, the more confused she will be.
in the end, i trusted my current tutor. we brushed her up during the shcool holidays, on her weak topics and i liaise with her maths teacher too.
again is CA2, her maths examination again. to my surprise, she scored well in her maths. she got a band 2, 81marks for her maths. she was very happy, of course, me too.
Now, still with her current tutor, she had the initiative to do her maths homework and she is enjoying her maths now.
What i wish to say is that, do not engage many tutor for the kids. this will make the child confuse. must stay with the child mind, and what are they tinking with the maths problems. do not use adult method way of doing the question, always must put yrself in their shoe. i do urgue with my husband regards maths question too. he used his adult method, i dun understand what he is teaching. in the end, i bring the whole question to my girl’s tutor.
now, no matter what, if i face a question i dun understand, i will bring the question to the tutor and asking her a favour to teach me. in order for the kids to understand, first of all, we adult must understand the question too.

      Hi Pebblesposies,

You are correct. It is on the last day of the school, 18 November 2011.
It should be in the morning from 9am onwards. You ve to bring along yr child. It seems like the school will bring the child to the class and participate with certain activities while the parents will be in the school hall for the speech. This is wat happen dis year(if i nvr remember wrgly). At the same time, school uniform/textbooks will be purchase. Arrangement of schoolbus if there is a need. Of course this is not the only day for you to buy textbooks/uniforms, another dates will be given in the list etc.
