I would concur with my DD that even Chi paper was hard. Not just Compo (which might seemed easy but actually required the writer to be creative and add more elements to the plot) but Paper 2 as well.

My DS also commented the paper was tough. But I’m sure they have put in their best effort. Now just focus on the last paper

Anyone heard of the paper’s level of difficulty?

IMO, 命题作文 can let you score high marks if your child is really proficient in the language, 造句 is flawless and know many of 好词好句， 成语， etc. Otherwise it is safer to stick to 看图作文 and not stray away from the theme.
