phoenix:
My DD recently received the Edusave Certificate and my DH commented that it may be the last time she would get it since she's going to GEP next year. So I'm curious now how do they award the GEP children these Edusave Awards, top 25% of the GEP cohort in your school or across the 9 GEP centers? Can't be with the mainstream in your school since they take different exams right?

Based on the gep cohort of that particular school.

Very strange as I expected this year's P5 to be the strongest.
After all, they have more than 50 pupils who went past the GEP 1st round who are still in PH.

I met my dd ex-classmate ..... apparently .. one of the class has a lot of changes to the teachers. Having the same teacher in a subject is important.

So you believe that giftedness and the ability to get into GEP is due to the effort by the school?
Not due to. But schools may have a certain level of impact.

      看了一题南洋小一Term1的数学题, 小一第一学期就考这样的题, 看来各校要求确实不一样, 邻里小学在GEP考试中吃亏是肯定了。

    • RE: 2014 TOP PSLE T-SCORE (EXCL HMT) - THE MAGIC 3D NUMBERS

Some of the reported scores may include HMT. Can someone double confirm highest T-score in Mee Toh is 270 excluding HMT and not 268+2 or 267+3?

Without the T-score, one possibility could be like SPERS. The students are given a list of schools they are eligible for based on their grades. From the list given, the students then submit their preferences accordingly.

So have to apply within this range? What if I want to apply outside this range - higher or lower :scratchhead: ?

 And since govt already know which schools I qualify for, why don't they just allocate me to the school at the top of the list ?

What if some of the offer doesn't make sense :frustrated: ? I heard of qualify for IP in RGS and O Level for SNGS only - one would expect that if you qualify for IP in RGS, you should be offered IP in SNGS too.

Please don't mind, these questions just pop up in my mind reading this  . Maybe MOE needs to prepare FAQs for such questions 😉

Not sure how the PSLE new system would be like. But for SPERS, yes, one cannot apply outside the range.
Is it a SPERS case?

An interesting read to share, as potential GEP parents ponder and grapple with the logistics (if you have already made up your mind). Just need to change \"pushy parents\" to KiasuParents.

      http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/gifted- ... story.html

      Kiasuparents => Pushy Parents

Then GEP => Pushy School Education? 😉
