I understand that CHIJ family of schools are all Catholic-background schools.

Will kids from non-Catholic families be excluded in the schools? Will it be hard for non-Catholic kids to make friends in the school?
We are not Catholics but there is CHIJ (Kellock) near my home and we have a daughter.
All mission schools (Catholic, Methodist, Anglican or Presbyterian) will NOT exclude anyone who are not in this denominations.

Also I don't see why non catholic kids can't make friends with catholic kids. When making friends we don't see which religion you come from.

In most of the CHIJ schools, the girls come from different religion and different race, the only thing that the non catholic girls don't attend is the catechism class. However, there are some parents who are non catholic actually wrote in to the school and allow their girls to participate as well.

So, I think there is nothing to worry about.

Hi I applied for rulang for under 1km. I tried calling the school to ask for the number of applicants under 1km but was advised by them to visit the moe website. May I know where i would be able to get the information? Thank you!

Dear parents

What are the chances for Chongfu Primary since the results updated today is 142 applicants for 48 seats. I read a comment from a member here that she was told by the staff to withdraw the application and try other school because no chance at all even for SC staying within 1-2 km. Then the 48 seats for who? PRs?
The staff could mean that balloting is for SC staying within 1km of the school.

When parents have CO on hand by the end of August, do consider very carefully which school is suitable for your child's learning style/ability. By this, I do not mean culture fit etc, I mean what the school emphasises, how it \"pushes\" its students, the kinds/frequencies of test/assessments expected. Think these will be real concerns when the kids start in these schools next year. Know your child's learning style and whether the child can thrive in the kind of environment. If possible, speak to seniors already in the school, ask in this forum here.

Hi lmp75,

When you mentioned about culture fit. Is this one of the important factor that parents should know? I don't understand when some parents tell me to find out the school culture, how important this factor should be consider before choosing the school.

I know in your post you indicated 'do not mean' culture fit but this just strike me recently and I'm still wondering.
Sorry for being a little silly to ask this. :scratchhead: :scratchhead:

For eg when we went to MGS OH, we didn’t feel the vibes were right, perhaps they emphasised too much on Christianity values. When we visited SCGS, similar feelings perhaps we didn’t feel right/fit-in about what they emphasised on. When we visited RGS, I liked the vibrancy of the girls but my girls felt otherwise so....
Hi lmp75,

:thankyou:

some schools still send out mails via snail mail. for those still waiting for notification for interviews, you may want to check your letterbox. just received 1 letter in mailbox from a school notifying my gal for interview for DSA via Leadership
Yes, I was surprised to find the letter in my letterbox and it had been sitting in the letter box for few days. 😓

It's okay Mummy. Like Taylor Swift sings, Shake it off. Concentrate on psle now. Playing this dsa game is like that, stats/chances are that most of us here will not get a CO or WL. But we try for the experience, and if lucky enough to get called for interview, take it as also free oral practice?

Feel better? Smile and have a nice day okay?

Totally agreed!

It will be a scandal if a DSA student from Singapore gets in through the “back door” because of parents’ connection. DSA should be “clean”.
The article is talking about US Universities leh. Has there been any street talk or gossip about DSA process being unclean? If there are any such cases, I’m sure CPIB will invite the parties for coffee.
Don't think this will happen in Singapore. I guess nobody wants to drink coffee in the CPIB office. :nailbite:

recalled a few years back, under IP, Cedar Girls' Secondary school used to offer \"Maths\" academic domain.

Anyone know why no more \"Maths\" domain, this year (2019) ? is gone (removed)
Not sure why it has been removed, not only Cedar Girls', even CHIJ TPY also removed their Dance. :scratchhead:
