not just MOE know, but other schools which you apply for DSA, will also know.Following.

example
if you apply DSA for three IP schools (RGS, NYGH, Dunman High) : -Principals from all these 3 schools will know what application you have made to other competitors' IP schools, since application database is centralized now, info readily available, at the click of a button.
That means, eg :
during 2019 DSA interview, if you attend NYGH interview, and Principal were to test your integrity, test how honest you are, by asking you, \"Which other Secondary schools did you also apply for DSA, besides our school ?\" you cannot tell lie, because Principal already know the answer (before you even answer the Principal)
And later on, when schools were to offer you CO / WL / rejection outcome :
Principals of the DSA schools which you had applied for, will also know your outcome, from the other competitors' DSA schools.
outcome of DSA application include
CO : Confirmed Offer
WL : Wait list, whereby applicants are ranked inside the WL, one by one. In the event those offered CO decline the offer, then applicants will get their chance, based on this ranking.

I notice Nan Hua High Sch DSA criteria which expect 75% for EMS except for Chinese in their DSA application. This mean NHH is trying to take in high caliber students?
I am referring to TOP TIER schools only - RGS/RI/NYGH/HCI/NUSH/NJC. Nan Hua is top tier meh? Who would want DSA to this kind of school? It’s such a waste of time. Maybe Nan Chiau is a better choice for such caliber students.
i refer to your comments, found in \" 2018 DSA \" thread.
actually, there are 2 group of parents (students), out here ! One group : definitely aiming / targeting for IP schools, perhaps the GEP parents (& pupils), because their (P4 to P6) past 3 years of GEP training will ease them, into IP schools, lower Secondary 1 and 2. To enter IP Secondary schools, is a natural progression for GEP primary school students. Plus perhaps the Top Mainstream P5 students from various primary schools : may also target IP schools.
Another group : prefer the safer, O level route, because somehow they feel that the traditional O level route, fit (suit) their children's studying style better, in the 4 important growing up-puberty teenage (prone to rebellion)Secondary school years. Perhaps, parents have observed how their children been studying for past 5 years, from (2014 P1) up to current (2018 P5), and being honest and true to themselves, feel that their kids are better off, going back to O-level Secondary schools, come 2020 Secondary 1.
To share with you, one of my friend's P6 daughter this year (2018) : she is amongst the top 10 in her 2018 P6 cohort, at one of the GEP schools, located along Bukit Timah belt. However, she is targeting not at any IP school, but at Nan Hua High : because her parents love this school (her parents had previously studied at Nan Hua High, before), inspite of the fact that their daughter represented her GEP school, in Science Olympaid, this year, can easily DSA into IP school, if she choose to. This child : is very strong, in Science and English, at the GEP school. So, different parents (& children) : different stroke !
Moreover, if you check MOE website, you can find a very long-list of several Non-IP Secondary schools, that offer very good and interesting niche Science oriented STEM (Science / Technology / Engineering / Mathematics) programme, via DSA application -
https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/direct-admissions/dsa-sec/stem
example (via DSA)
Compassvale Secondary : offer Aeronautics niche programme
Northbrooks Secondary : offer Aerospace niche
Fuhua Secondary : offer Forensic Science niche
Bartley Secondary : offer Fragrance Chemical & Applied Science niche
(Bukit View, Commonwealth, Marsiling, Queensway) Secondary : offer Environmental Science niche
(Ngee Ann, Yio Chu Kang, Clementi Town) Secondary : offer Programming (Coding) niche
(Bukit View, Kent Ridge) Secondary : offer Computational skills niche
Dunearn Secondary : offer Food Science & Technology niche
Ping Yi Secondary : offer Design & Aeronautical Engineering niche
Presbyterian High : offer Pharmacy & Forensic Science niche
Bendemeer Secondary : offer Health Science niche
Woodgrove Secondary : offer Material Science niche
Yio Chu Kang Secondary : offer Mechatronics, Aeronautics & Robotics niche
(Admiralty, Anderson, Commonwealth, Chua Chu Kang, Fu Chun, Hai Sing Catholic, Maris Stella High, Pei Hwa Presbyterian, Regent, St Andrew, SCGS, Yishun Town ) Secondary : offer Robotics niche
Changkat Changi Secondary : offer STEM - Applied Learning in Aerospace and Aviation niche
Tampines Secondary : offer Creative Engineering and Modelling niche
(Jurongville, Yusof Ishak) Secondary : offer Science, Technology and Environmental Learning niche
plus a lot of many, more other very good niche programme, inside above long list of Non-IP Secondary schools

Exactly. You have echoed my thoughts so well. DSA is not about prestige schools. DSA is not about what parents wants.
It is about the environment and passion that the kids want to explore.
Today's education is more than just paper smartness or exam smartness. It is more than that. The opportunity to explore outside the standard academic curriculum. Prepare our children to globalization. -

Hi zac’s mum,
You have a P5 kiddo too?
Actually a few of my friends brought up this discussion a few months ago. And some of us wonder if:
For this new DSA 2019 system, does it mean MOE has the ‘system administrator’ rights? How do we know if all schools really get to view all its applications? Is this becoming a ‘test system’ for the new AL system where students have to go through ballot for the popular secondary school if there are too many perfect psle AL scores? Will MOE do a first cut review and ‘allocate and spread out’ the applications to different schools since ‘every school is a good school’ and the number of DSA vacancy is roughly 35% of school cohort in recent years? :siam:
