Don’t touch.
Touching is forbidden! It’s lovely to have a man’s hand guiding you to your seat but, touching and guiding are totally different. -
RE: How to handle teenage dating?
snowman.697:
Sweetheart, during our times SMSes are not invented. During my parents’ time, “ What’s SMS???!!???”. Tell ya, you are lucky if you owned a dialed chapalang black phone during their time.hesiew:
I found out by spying her mobile msg and didn't want her to know I invaded her privacy. Still pretending I don't know.
I am not an anti-parent person; neither do I want to offend. But I strongly oppose to what you have done. Your daughter is a person too, she has the rights to her own privacy. If I were your daughter and I found out, you can imagine how angry I would be. In my opinion, the reasons why people invent SMSes are to not only make life more convenient, but also to have more privacy. Imagine talking on the phone; people can already hear half of the conversation going on. That disadvantage will be no more with SMS. Now imagine someone barging through that privacy barrier and reading the SMSes is that. That is invading privacy isn't it? From a child's point of view, I think we (18yo and below) have a right to some privacy too! At least, if I were you, I would tell her that I would be reading her messages, and the reason is that it's for her own good. Not by \"spying\". I have friends whose parents spy on them too, and I believe they feel really angry and isolated when they find out. What will your own child feel if she eventually finds out?
My advice to you is, STOP reading her texts. Admit to her, admit that you should not have done it, but at the same time, explain to her, and ask her, why, who, where, she was dating (with). Then you can explain to her about O-levels, focussing, prioritising, and all that stuff. Spying on texts, and not doing anything, will not help to solve the problem.
Again sorry if I have offended, but this is just from the view of a child, and I feel that we do have some privacy rights too.
Best regards,
Parents moved ahead of their time to catch up with their kids, don’t you think kids like you should move a little backward, just a little (not much, not an inch even for understanding ) for your parents and grandparents?
My parents invaded my grandparents privacy by raising my parents. My siblings and I invaded my parents privacy by raising us. As a parent now, kids like you telling parents not to invade? Why don't you learn to discuss with your parents? Why don't you learn to accept an answer ‘NO’? If you don’t want your privacy to be invaded, clean up the shit you have made. By all means, do what you fancy but when troubles come don’t ask for help. Solve them yourself. If you can't, respect your parents and grandparents. They are here in this world longer than you, dude.
Best regards too.

RE: Love In Small Ways
Ideally, we want to feel in love with our partner throughout the marriage. As marriage matured along the way and years, you don’t feel in love with your partner anymore. Love is not gone, you will continue loving your partner but not in love, because marriage goes through phases to sustain and strengthen the foundation both of you had built from the beginning. I don’t like honeymoon phase, because it’s honeymoon phase where everything is sweet and there’s no tomorrow. I want to see and know the road ahead of us will be smooth or not with his pledge on the altar minutes ago because I want my tomorrow EVERYDAY. In love?? Nah, my hub and I passed that phase. I love my hub very much, but I’m not in love with him. I’m in love with our child.

RE: OT : Indonesian toddler on 40 cigarettes a day
How old is this ‘child’ again?
Look at the way he fiddled the cigarettes on his fingers. Look at the way he talked, how he puffed out smoke from his lips, and look at his body language. Do you really think he’s a toddler.?If you are a parent, you should know a toddler don’t move around like that. This village must be dumb bored with no excitement and seeking for dumb attentions. Jeez…you aren’t dumb to believe that this undergrowth holding a milk bottle represents toddlerhood, no??
Summore, so fat! As if cigarettes pile you up with calories. Of course lah, eat, smoke and laze around make an undergrowth a disgusting fat slop. Disgusted  -

It's related only if you don't live by the commandments alone. That's more to it, babe!
sorry, I couldn't figure out how Mark 7:17 is related to that commandment. :?mocharita:
In Exodus, it says, ‘You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything, not to bow down or worship them’.
However, there are people interpreting it wrongly by bossing, bullying and criticizing
verbally to others by using this phrase. This is not an act from God at all. By all means believe in what your book says because whatever genuine religious books you are into will not teach you that you are above of ALL.
Some of these bullies forgotten about Mark 7:17, haiz…
p.s Sometimes, opps..,I mean most times, we need to think before we talk lor. (regardless of any religions.)
Hmm, no wonder that's a degree for religion studies out there. Tsk..tsk..

RE: Managing a Precocious Child
Tazyspin:
Pointless to ask around for views over here because none of us are professionals in this area. No one knows the situations more than you as a parent to your child. You are suspicious of your child’s behavior but yet afraid to know the truth.Recently, my 8yr old (turning) was diagnosed to be a precocious gal by the PD. We decided to seek our PD'shelp was becoz of some adult terms she used (to hurt herself) when she was severly reprimanded. On top of that, we found that she had behavioural problem in school based on the teacher's feedback. The teacher was puzzled why she became upset when her classmate was praised for a piece of gd work done. She also displayed authoritative attitude towards her classmate. Like when the teacher reprimands a classmate, she will follow-up with the classmate in front of the teacher.
Based on the quiet moments between the doc and her, the doc felt she is very mature for her age. In fact, we had the same comment when she was in N2. The doc felt as such, her peers may not be able to accept her well becoz she talks differently. The doc also found that she is an opinonated gal. The environment actually contributes largely to her emotional behaviours. She shared with the PD why her outburst at her classmate. She was very upset with this gal for awhile. So, when the teacher prasied the gal, she didn't think the gal deserve it as she had already formed her own opinion of this gal.
On her work, she has very poor attitude. She has to be pushed at to complete a task. When it comes to her NOT fav subject - maths, she switched off almost completely. She wldn't even analyze the problem sums. She simply won't do. Both her form and daycare teacher had confirmed it's not that she doesn't know. She juz doesn't want to put in the effort.
The PD wants to do an IQ test for her. We are not sure if it's necessary. Any views?
Can any parents share with me how they handle their kids who also hv this sign, pls?

Go for the IQ test. It will put your mind at ease. Whatever the outcome will be, work out from there instead of wasting your time pondering or wondering if your girlie need an IQ test. I always believe that a woman, who went through so much during pregnancy and childbirth already, naturally she will extend much more help and love for that child afterbirth. Do not deprive your child from making a step forward in the future by your suspicions.
My child is exactly like yours. I was too tired listening to many blah, blah, blah and blahs from experienced parents that all kids will go through that. I want to help my child but these good intention parents are not helping at all by easing my mind. They are not professional in this area in the first place and they are not who handle the frustrations in place of me. Easy said than done for them, as the saying.
I got my child tested and he’s A-OK. He’s not motivated at all only. So, I worked from there to motivate my child because all along I didn't believe in forcing a child, but through this incident, I learnt that all kids are different. Some needs to be motivated before completing the task, and some don’t. Simple as that. Money well spent!
You are not feeling at ease, and that's why you are asking for opinions over here. Go, go and get a professional to ease your worries. Work from there after the result. No big deal really. Parenthood is such, anyway.

Don't compare lor.mocharita:
some parents really need to be tutored instead.
Easy to teach children but very very difficult to educate parents. The herd instinct and kiasuism, the need to buy 'insurance' (via tuition) for 'just-in-case' scenario, the need to do the 'BEST' that they can do for their kids, etc. Those are not easy to shake off. 宁可杀错、不可放过approach towards their kids' academic journey.
Average number of subjects my daughter's classmates had for tuitions is two. Her best friend got FOUR!!! Her best friend from what I see is brighter than her and both parents are lecturers who actually 'bribed' her best friend with extra pocket money for her to go to her tuitions 'dutifully' (now she is in Hwa Chong and still 'tuitioning' as usual).
Enjoy your daughter from now till she's in her 20's. You will be surprised when she comes to you for an expected question. Everyday, my kid asks me and challenge me questions. Honestly, at times I googled for the answers.
Hwa Chong or Chong Pang are not important at all. Obviously, we want our kids to go to the 'best' school. If they can't be there, what are we goin to do?? Slit our neck infront of them? NO, right?!?
Teach them to make the best out of it and as parents, all we have to do is to watch, watch, watch and correct them. Parenting is never easy.
