From my experience as a current JC GP teacher, SOT has a good programme that caters to higher-ability students. My student from 2012 (just did her A levels) gave me feedback that she found it difficult to follow the lessons because of the huge class size (it’s like school, she says), and I found that I had to re-teach certain things because SOT’s programme wasn’t suitable for her. That being said, for students who are more capable in GP, and are already doing fairly well for GP, SOT provides a good platform to stretch their ability.

You can try Chronicles of Ancient Darkness - a trilogy by Michelle Paver. This series is set in the Stone Age and the protagonist is a 12 yr old boy. I like the fact that the author really researched into various aspects of the story - how people lived in those days, the things they used, wolf colonies etc. The series has been noted for its attention to accurate details.Sherlock Holmes is always enjoyable too.
