Thanks floppy, zac's mum and coast for your replies! I'm worried that my son may only be able to score AL6 for MT so that will already leave very little points for the other 3 subjects.. 😞

Hi, does anyone know abt DSA to YTSS under bowling or has anyone done so for your child?

YTSS accepted a few students via DSA bowling. Not sure how many in total, I heard of 3 students so far.

Thanks! I wonder how many applications they received under bowling.. 😓
In case anybody is interested... these are the stats for RI 2019 DSA: 1400 students applied, 120 were accepted. Cohort size is 405, DSA accounted for 30% of the intake.

May I know where can we see stats like this for the schs?

Information like this is usually shared by the individual schools during open house, reporting day, Sec 1 orientation etc. So far I haven't seen any website that consolidates these stats. Your best bet is to scour KSP forum for information posted by parents.
Ahhh I see.. Will do that. Thank you!

Thanks. floppy. Tbh I don't even know where to start. I'm staying in Yishun so preferably schs in Yishun/Sembawang. Can forget abt northeast as my husband doesn't want our son to waste time travelling. I'm planning to try DSA to YTSS but would like to find out more abt other schs within the area too.

Most people usually start with an estimated t-score, assuming there’s no other considerations like single gender schools, CCA, etc.

Therefore, if he’s estimated to score > 250, your choice is likely to be RI or CHS (unless his MT is not Chinese).

For > 240, it will be either Anderson or CCHS (Yishun)

For > 230, YTSS, PHS, KCPSS, Riverside or Kranji.

Distance and time are non-linear where public transport is concern. Depending on where you live, schools close to a MRT station, such as CHS, PHS and KCPSS, could be easier and quicker to get to compared to some schools in Yishun / Sembawang. Also, NCHS in Sengkang takes less than an hour to reach from Yishun, which many people would accept as a good compromise if it means getting into a good school.

If you are using DSA, most people would tend to “look up”. Therefore, even if you estimate that he is going to score only 230 or 240, there’s no harm to consider CHS as one of his three DSA options.

This is so helpful. I didn't think of it this way lol
Thank you so much, floppy!

From what I know, YTSS via DSA sports is highly taxing.
Some of them that don't do well academically will need to go NA.
Not sure about those non DSA sports students.
Hi, I know this is an old post but may I know what do you mean by highly taxing? I plan to try applying for DSA - Bowling at Yishun Town.

For those staying in the north or northeast, how do you choose the schs? Any recommended schools in this area?
