I would like to recommend my son's Maths tutor.
My son, Dave is in Primary 5 this year and is being tutored by Ms Angela Tay. She teaches at a condo in Pasir Ris with a group of NIE trained teachers. Ms Angela specializes in Primary Mathematics. Dave started the tuition sessions in early September 2014 when he was in Primary 4. Prior to the tutoring, Dave had been failing his Maths exams terribly. Even his school Maths teacher told me that he is hopeless so no point giving him remedials in school. Made me so depressed! Luckily, it is not the same teacher teaching my son Maths this year. Then a parent asked me to look for this tutor, Ms Angela who is good at helping weaker students. Without hesitation, I contacted her and told her about my son. She is a very kind tutor as she even offered to give Dave free P3 Maths lessons to help him build up his foundation as exams was only about one month away. Before the tuition, Dave scored 30 marks for his p4 Math CA2. Miraculously, after only one and a half months of tuition with Ms Angela, he managed to pass his p4 SA2 Math with a score of 51.5. Both my son and I are overjoyed. This really helps to boost my son's self esteem.
I am very thankful and appreciative of what Ms Angela has done for my son. Hence, I would like to give good feedback about her in this forum.
I would strongly recommend this tutor to all mummies who are facing a similar situation. This tutor is kind and patient and will answer any questions you have regarding your child's progress. I'm seeing great improvements in my son, and he still continues his tuition sessions with Ms Angela this year. You can email Ms Angela. Her email address is

RE: Comparing Math Enrichment Programmes
I think teachers are more important. Not the branding of the tuition centre. My P4 girl is extremely weak in Maths. She failed her P3 Maths last year, so I decided to sign her up for p4 Maths tuition. Coincidentally, a group of teachers set up tuition classes at the Student Care Centre near my house this year. I decided to sign her up as discount is given to students who are already in the Student Care Centre. The rate is affordable and reasonable as compared to Learning Lab or other ‘branded’ centres. The teacher is very nice as she offered free p3 Maths lessons for my girl to help her build up her foundation. The teacher has her own Maths curriculum which I think is very effective. I can see drastic improvement in my girl’s results. From band 4 in CA1 to Band 2 in SA2. I also heard from another parent that her son used to fail Maths all the way fr P4 to P5. This year, the boy scored an A for his prelims after attending tuition for a year, taught by the same teacher. Hence, I feel that it is very important to get a good teacher who can deliver the lesson effectively.

RE: Computer software or e-learning for preschoolers
Hi everyone, I am Angela, a newbie here. I am looking for good computer softwares or online websites or apps that teach young children Chinese language like how to recognize and write words. Any good recommendations? Any free ones?
