    • RE: Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

Hi Iggy and Hongkie Mom 🙂

I sent my son (now 2.5 years) to Chengzhu since he was ~1 years. We enjoyed the PlayNest and PlayClub sessions together, but stopped after 1 term of Language Learners. I just felt their approach wasn't effective for him - he learns best thru music, drama, movement - and surprisingly, the LL (N1) class was much more \"academic\" than I expected. Lots of sit-down and repeat after the teacher with flash cards and books. We are trialing Berries next. Tien Hsia seems too academic from what I read. Curious what you both have decided?

      Hi hongkie mum
I did a trial at Chengzhu. I personally found the lesson plan more holistic.instead of flashing the word cards many times, they reinforce learning through skit/drama. I think they are trying to make learning more wholesome and incidental than technical drilling. The downside is probably you dont see instant results. I have yet to decide between berries and chengzhu.

    • RE: All About Choosing Piano Schools And Teachers

Hello! Any recs for good toddler classes (2.5 years up) offering music appreciation with early intro to instruments (keyboard, violin)? So far, I’m only aware of Seimpi but location a bit tough for us. TIA

    • RE: The Odyssey Creative Learning Centre

Anyone has comments from their own experiences deciding between Etonhouse and Odyssey? We’ve been looking at Eton as it’s nearby and we like their approach, but wonder if we should visit Odyssey (4th Ave) before we decide. Any significant differences? One concern I have about Odyssey as it’s under KU mgmt is that we receive exactly what Learning Vision/Pats students do (curriculum, bilingual approach, etc.) but pay a lot more in fees!

    • RE: Chiltern House

Has the Halifax center renewed their lease? Anyone with kids that will go to local P1, but is sending your kids to either Chiltern and Etonhouse?

Also, what’s this about needing to be toilet trained? Is that the case for N1 enrollment?!

Also the lady that we spoke to a few times over the phone this week seems always to be in a foul mood. Hope her attitude is not reflective of the environment in NYK now..... Will be visiting the school early next week and see how it goes.

Haha, that was EXACTLY my impression too. In fact, I immediately decided NYK isn't worth it, if that's the attitude they have. There are many (ok, maybe not that many but at least a few!) other options and I don't need to be that kiasu to put up with this!

    • RE: Urgent help: Eton House or Mindchamps?

We're in the same boat! Will make a decision about N1 2014 enrollment after we visit both schools which are near us, thankfully. Will let you know what we decide and why 🙂

Oh, also, we do intend to enrol our boy in local school, esp. as the IB curriculum is offered locally nowadays

Has the principal changed? Not Ms Gwen anymore?

      It's Lilian now.

We don’t mind moving to Buckley if BH can’t find another site nearby. The point was to get him introduced to the Pats environment and curriculum

    • RE: Pat's Schoolhouse

My kid will start at Baby Haven KK toddler playgroup soon. Am a little concerned about the bad feedback about pats lately. Anyone with experience (current or recent) with BH? I am aware that the principal has changed and their lease is due end of year, but we had felt this was still our preferred option.
