Hi all. Iām interested to send my girl for competitive gymnastics classes, preference would be AG. Location, price and time commitment is not a big issue. What matters is that she can receive the best training. Any advice?

Taneo Dance Academy is a new branch and the class size there is very small at the moment. They are offering CSTD courses and they organize recitals, gatherings and parties for parents and students every year. They have a Rising Star program if your child really loves dance, they will groom your child for competitions. Exams are not compulsory unless you want to participate in the Rising Star program.Hi
I'm looking for an alternative school for my DD. Currently my DD is 5 years old and is with Crestar Thomson. Not very happy as the teacher seems to force students to take the pre-primary exam and coaching lessons. As the coaching lessons clash with my DD's piano lesson, I decided not to let her take the pre-primary exam. The teacher told my DD next year must take the Primary exam.
Not too happy with the teacher as I understand exams esp pre-pri and pri are not compulsory.
My sister recommend Ms Pang Ling of Trudance, but is too far away as I stay in the Bishan/Thomson area. Any recommendation from parents here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
The main downside is the location of the place, it's located under a HDB block so it may not be very convenient. But the good thing is that the fees are kept very low so if your child likes to take up a few genres, she can do so. This school will suit you if you are on a tight budget and yet want to get the best training for your child and don't mind the location. -

Any review for jitterbugs ?
Jitterbugs is one of the most established and active dance schools in Singapore. The difference between these active schools and those in CC is that they are really grooming dancers to compete at the highest level. The teachers will also be more strict in that sense. They are offering CSTD courses, and it is compulsory to take 2 courses if you want to join jitterbugs. The fees are on the higher end as well. But the quality of the dancers that they produce are really good, you get what you pay for. If you are more looking for a casual type of class where your kid can just try and have fun, then you might want to consider a normal dance school first. -
RE: Ballet - RAD or CSTD
FantasyLandDreams:
When you switch from RAD to CSTD you normally have to demote one grade too. It does not mean one syllabus is better than the other, it is just that the syllabus is different. Indeed Crestar teachers may not necessarily be better. You have to do your own research to determine if the teachers are good. CC is the cheapest but it's common that the class size is big and they don't have much activities such as concert and competitions.
Just to share my experience, if you are with Crestar and want to switch from CSTD to RAD, usually they will want to \"demote\" one grade. Also, it does not necessary mean Crestar teachers are better than cc teacher too, a lot really depends on teacher, although Crestar is about 50% more expensive than cc in terms of fees. But not all cc will have the annual concert thingy though ...this is perhaps the only minor difference from the way I see it....hapydino:
hi fellow mummies and daddies..
thank you for your contribution..
i have sort of decided i would go for RAD for my gal.. went to view Crestar (Hougang / Kovan) yday.. the lady doing registration say at this age there is no distinction between RAD/CSTD as the teachers are both trained in RAD and CSTD (i am a bit skeptical with this statement).. She said, now is basic, 1 yr later, proceed from BeBe Ballet to Classical Ballet and this is the time we parents voice out our preference and decide which teacher / syllabus we want our child to learn..
i feel, though now is Basic Ballet but the teacher if trained in CSTD would be teaching CSTD steps??
so in the evening I went to view Ballet & Music Company @ United Square as i was advised over the phone that they only have RAD syllabus..
any comments between Crestar and Ballet & Music Company?? what about DancePointe??
yes, i was advised by my gal friend tat the teacher plays a bigger part.. i agree 100% but at this stage, i dun tink i will be able to 'interview' the teacher nor sit in every lesson in every single lesson to ascertain which teacher is good..
so my bet will be to view the centre, the dance studios, access the syllabus, the leotards (lol, yes this mummy cares about the leotard and the pong pong skirt design) and try to get a better school and enroll.. only after lessons start can i assess my child's interest / likes / dislikes and indirectly ascertain the lesson's quality and teacher's professionalism??
thank you, welcome any comments..

would also appreciate if anyone else can advice on these schools for kids so young. want to instill some form of good posture for my ger, i know it works cos i did chinese dance myself for over 10yrs but when i try to teach my ger, it just fall on deaf ears. think if it comes from an external teacher or peers, it would work better.... -

Any comment on The School of Dance at yishun - http://www.the-schoolofdance.com/?
I'm looking around for yishun/woodlands ballet...
How about the CC ones at:
- Chong Pang
- Jelutong (By Dancepointe but I read that it's not so good as it's not strict and all fun...)
- Woodlands CC (2 different operators: Eastern Ballet and Trudance)
- Crestar Woodlands Civic Center?
Many, many thanks!!!

Great!!!! I'll call them. Thanks!!!!! A lot of website says that most of the CC's have it but i have been trying a couple CC and they keep saying they do not have these classes.
Taneo Dance Academy moved from Yishun to Woodlands. Their courses are high end but the prices are low.
Hi, how about Woodlands CC? I saw little girls attending ballet class while waiting for my gal to finish her lesson at Berries.SCTAN:
It's quite comforting to hear all these fabulous feedbacks about Innova Primary.
There's another things that Woodlanders could prolly help me with. Does anyone here send their 4yr olds to ballet classes in the CC? I would like to send my daughter to a ballet class but i dont know which CC hold those classes for toddlers. I know there are high end classes in Civic Centre holding those classes but they are too expensive for me. -

Taneo Dance Academy has the Rising Star program to train dancers for competitions. They send them for overseas competitions also. TDA grade 5 $250 per term, each lesson 90 mins. Coaching 250X2 (2 terms). Recommended for parents who have tight pockets but still want top quality training. Just that location may be a bit troublesome since its in HDB area. By the way, number of coaching terms is determined by school. Most schools do 2 terms, some do 1. Other numbers are quite rare.
Hi sahm2kida,SAHM2KIDS:
In terms of fees, Dancepointe is reasonable. Dd is grade 5 now and the fees is 290 per term and each lesson is 90 mins. Fees for coaching clas is 290Ć3 (3 terms).
Starting from this year, Dancepointe has this apprentice program to train the girls for competitions. I think this helps in DSA.
Just to share.
May I know whether the coaching class is 3 terms for all grades, or just for grade 5?
Can share the names of such competitions? And these competitions are organized by which organization, rad? How many months does it take to train for competition?
Thanks.
CSTD competition is only open to students taking CSTD examinations. A lot of dance schools are opening up intensive programmes to train competitive dancers. CSTD is becoming more popular these days because of the competitions. Parents like DSA related stuffs! -

You can try Taneo Dance Academy's new branch in Bishan. Since it's new the schedule should be quite flexible. Can get a good timing. Their price is good and it's quite a happening school.Hi mummies
My gal is turning 4 next year and am keen to enrol her for ballet. I am totally clueless about ballet and need your advises here. Is moving art a good dance school for ballet she is currently attending pre nursery under cm but she wanted ballet. Am residing at Hougang any good ballet school in Hougang for ballet or I can just continue at moving arts?
Many thanks!
