i DO NOT recommend your child getting a turnboard!! i personnaly have one and it is very dangerous if your child is only in the lower levels of ballet. the technique for turning on the board and for ballet is very different it may be fun, but will not benefit your child in any way

She will be taking G1 Apr '16. She's learning how to turn on her on.
She manages to saw this on youtube, so she asked me if she can have it or not.

I have asked her teacher, she told me turnboard normally used in the early stage of turning. it help to learn how to balance better and has more turns.

However, if one haven't know how to turn properly, it is dangerous and can cause injuries.[/quote]

Chanced upon ballet masterclass on SBA Facebook page. Just curious, anyone's dd attended such masterclass before and do you find it helpful for upcoming ballet exam? Typically what will be covered in such class - exam techniques or ?? Anyone has any inputs? Thanks.

hi the masterclass is just like a normal ballet class, just that there are new steps and extra tips for the dancers to learn it is not really necessary but if your child is interested you can join and have fun!

Jitterbugs is one of the most established and active dance schools in Singapore. The difference between these active schools and those in CC is that they are really grooming dancers to compete at the highest level. The teachers will also be more strict in that sense. They are offering CSTD courses, and it is compulsory to take 2 courses if you want to join jitterbugs. The fees are on the higher end as well. But the quality of the dancers that they produce are really good, you get what you pay for. If you are more looking for a casual type of class where your kid can just try and have fun, then you might want to consider a normal dance school first.

I'm looking for an alternative school for my DD. Currently my DD is 5 years old and is with Crestar Thomson. Not very happy as the teacher seems to force students to take the pre-primary exam and coaching lessons. As the coaching lessons clash with my DD's piano lesson, I decided not to let her take the pre-primary exam. The teacher told my DD next year must take the Primary exam.

Not too happy with the teacher as I understand exams esp pre-pri and pri are not compulsory.

My sister recommend Ms Pang Ling of Trudance, but is too far away as I stay in the Bishan/Thomson area. Any recommendation from parents here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Taneo Dance Academy is a new branch and the class size there is very small at the moment. They are offering CSTD courses and they organize recitals, gatherings and parties for parents and students every year. They have a Rising Star program if your child really loves dance, they will groom your child for competitions. Exams are not compulsory unless you want to participate in the Rising Star program.

The main downside is the location of the place, it's located under a HDB block so it may not be very convenient. But the good thing is that the fees are kept very low so if your child likes to take up a few genres, she can do so. This school will suit you if you are on a tight budget and yet want to get the best training for your child and don't mind the location.

My DD has been under Ms Blue for one month plus now and she is loving it. She is also doing splits and has been complaining about aches in her bums. I can see that there is improvement in her steps. Glad to make the switch!

Hi, I thinking of letting my 4yo gal to learn dancing. I have shortlisted three schools and please advice which sch is better and worth the money:


1) Crestar learning centre - Jurong east branch
2) The Dance Station @ Tanglin Shopping centre
3) Dancepointe Academy @ Jurong East Central
