If your husband not working in Singapore and you are not employed here or a PR here, maybe you need to first check whether you can stay long term in Singapore before planning next steps.
Suggest that you also talk to the school and see what advices they offer if you want your daughter to stay only 3 years.
If the 3 years not be recognized in India, your daughter may have to start from sec 1 again?
We are PR. So I guess staying here should not be a problem.

Yes, I think I need to talk to NUSHS regarding what kind of certificate they give if at all my daughter leaves in between.

Also, I need to check back in India whether the certificate given here will be considered valid there.

Life is not easy when children are growing up.

Thanks a lot for all your valuable suggestions. It really helped me to come out of my dilemma.

My daughter has not started going to NUS-HS. She will be going from next January.

As my husband was here on a project basis, he had to go back to India this year. I am here only because of my daughter’s passion for going to NUS-HS. But staying all the way for six long years alone in Singapore would be very difficult. Hence, as NUS-HS has modular curriculum, I was hoping that my daughter will be able to complete the first 4 years in just 3 years and then we both can go back to India for her further studies (i.e. 11th and 12th).

However, as NUS-HS doesn’t give an O-level certificate, I don’t know whether she will get admission into any good school for class-11. Anyhow, I need to check with the schools there at a later date.

As suggested by you, I should allow her to continue studying here without worrying because the curriculum is simply great.

Thanks a lot for such useful information.

if you leave at end of yr 4, can take the results accumulated over 4 yrs, join either JC or polytechnic. Then carry on from there ...

But there is no O-level certificate given after 4 years. So will the JC or polytechnic take the students without O-level certificate?

However, I don't think NUS high students will leave the school after 4 years and join JC or polytechnic in Singapore. Because they will anyhow get their NUS diploma in another 2 more years.

My concern about NUS high school curriculum is, supposing for the children who have to leave the country after 2/3/4 years, due to parents getting transferred to different countries, then as the school doesn't have any official O-level certificate (that is if the student leaves after 4 years), will the schools outside Singapore, still consider it like O-level?

      Does anyone has idea?

I would just like to know more about NUS high school's diploma. Is it possible to complete all the module requirements and get the diploma in 5 years instead of stipulated 6 years?

Not possible. You can leave but you won't get awarded your diploma. AFAIK even those who exited in Year 4 to pursue undergrad studies did not receive their diploma.

Special case is that some PRs have been applying for uni at the end of Year 5 (they can do this because of the modular system, this can't be done in JCs), and leave midway through Year 6 (after dropping PR) to attend university. One person who went to UK to study medicine under this condition was awarded the diploma in his absence.

You can leave anytime you want, just find a school willing to take you.

      Thanks for the info.

My daughter will be going there next year. I asked this because our job is transferable and there are chances that we get posted in different countries after few years. So just wanted to know the procedure.

Thanks all for the useful information provided.

I'm sure they can leave NUSH before Year 4. There have been students who've left at the end of Year 2. Maybe it's preferred that they leave at the end of Year 4 to enter JCs rather than in the middle of secondary school?
Yes, that makes sense. No point in leaving in the middle of secondary school.

Yes, neptune1000, there have been exceptional students who entered university after Year 4, but they are few and far between.

I found this on the NUSH website: http://www.highsch.nus.edu.sg/content.php?id=aab3238922bcc25a6f606eb525ffdc56

      4. Will NUS High School students get advanced placement at NUS?
Yes. The NUS High School curriculum makes provisions for students at Year 5 and Year 6 to read NUS modules directly or to enrol in project/research modules for credits. These credits will be recognised as NUS modular credits when the students seek admission to NUS. Take note that NUS High School students will not graduate in less than 6 years. They will stay for a full 6 years and take on NUS modules if they fulfill the pre-requisites to do so

Ok. That means, the students will get their diploma only after completing 6 full years. Thanks for the info.

However, I also read the following in the link given above:

      10. Will a student have a choice to exit NUS High School if he or she decides to do so?
If there are students who are not able to adapt to the school's teaching and learning structure, they can exit at the end of the 4th year.

I didn't understand this. The students can not quit the school till 4th year?

Thanks for the information. I have heard some people mentioning about this but was not sure.

The students must be really exceptional to complete the diploma in 4+ years. It is also great that the school allows this.
