      Hi,

Think I log in some months ago but was asked to intro myself at the Newbies forum, which I did. After a few weeks of reading the forum, I stopped and focus on finding online resources to teach my son.

Now the renewed interest of looking for a school for my son arises again. And somehow, PHPPS still pops to my mind. Partly because its a Christian school and somewhere west.

I read in the 'Choosing and Evaluating Primary School' thread that php wrote about PHPPS, \"Non-GEP but popular school - the best is Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School, better than some GEP schools.\"

And HappyMama replied: \"Agree. Very conducive learning environment and non-snobbish teachers and students.\"

And Janet_lee88 wrote: \"Teachers are caring, they teach and do not assume the students attend enrichment classes...principal not snobbish but not very smiley.\"

We would appreciate everyone's comments about the school.. the culture, CCA focus?, how are the current teachers etc as well as your personal observation of the school as compared to the remarks stated above.

      Janet_lee88 - I have PM you too.

      Thank you so much 🙂

      Hi Jennifer,

Yes, i called the church office just now. The lady who picked up the call said parents must be member of the church be it baptised or transferred membership. I forgot to ask if its one or two parents. BUt then again, she mentioned that being church member gets you into Phase 2B, the rest depends on balloting…church cannot affect the school’s decision etc…

I read in the main PHPPS thread about all the talk of chinese language and chinese books to read - If you have friends/relatives going to China, do get them to buy the chinese books. Most of the books there will be labelled for which age group, so not that difficult to buy.Its really really cheap. Like one book I bought from Popular here cost S$3.10, its actually RMB 6.80. The last time I was there I bought quite a lot.

hehe… thanks for making me feel welcome and relieving some of the pressure of feeling kiasu…

BTW, I just called PHPPS and the lady asked me where am I staying. So I told her within 1km (though we haven’t decide where to buy the house), she told me no problem to gaining entry. As for church affiliation, she couldn’t tell me more.

I am have to call the church to ask.

    • NewlyKiasuParent Reporting to the forum!!

      Halo,

I didn't know that all new 'forumers' have to intro ourselves this way. 🙂 Thanks Jennifer for this link.

Was looking for more information about school for my very young son (Don't want to mention his age at the risk of sounding very kiasu, hahaha) But this will affect our housing choice within the next 1 to 2 years. 😄

Before having my son, I thought moving hse near to intended school was overboard but now, we are thinking of it!!!

Hmm..the things parents do for their children...

    • RE: Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary

      Hi everyone,

Am new to this forum and as parents to a young boy, we are beginning to search for a suitable school, preferably a christian school as we are both christians.

We would like to ask abt church affiliation. Does being a member of a presbyterian church helps in the balloting process if we are keen for our son to attend PHPPS?

Or what can we do to increase our chances of getting a place in the school besides staying within 1km of the school and doing PV?

      Appreciate your kind replies. 🙂
