Thks James1968. One more thing I notice my DD hate her Lit teacher Ms Seah a lot so should I speak to her or email her or so think this is a bad idea? I read my DD whatapp class chat, the students also dislike this science teacher Miss Loh who they say was not very lazy to teach any idea how do parents like us try to help cushion this.

RE: School Of The Arts, Singapore
hi i heard the classes are banded in SOTA being R8 as best class but then there are very outstanding students in R1, R3, R5 in terms of psle results and artforms, can someone confirm this as just want to make sure i am not misinformed because for the upper level I heard the classes are mixed abilities and there are some very good students mixed into the other classes for some reasons. anyone here know what are the REASONS for doing so as got a couple VA students on scholarships tat are from other classes not R8 so it is very confusing. Is there really a rumoured best class?

Sota students and parents - appreciate your feedback on the iB program. I know the A levels can be very intensive towards year 5 to 6 and many attend tuition for their subjects. How about the IB? Does it mean that since the exams hold only 60 to 70% of the final score, it is not as detailed and intensive compared to A levels? Do most students go for tuition? How about SOTA - do the Teachers follow up closely on students and offer help or hold extra classes for the weaker ones? Thanks.
tuition?? tuition is unheard of in SOTA leh. -
RE: DSA 2017
Asking for a fren - wat is the chances of SOTA WL converting in to CO? Are there incidents of WL for SOTA not getting in SOTA on PSLE release day?
My fren kid has a CO for DHS but her dd wants to give that up to try waiting for SOTA WL. Risky a not?? -

just wondering...
anyone knows whether there are any CO for MGS & SCGS, through Dance??
& roughly how many offered??
thanks in advance..
personally my dd noes 2 girls from SOTA audition who has COs for SCGS, both are giving up SCGS COs for other schools as SCGS for dance is mainly for 4 years and they have offers for 6 years in even better schools. My dd did not apply for SCGS though just sharing here. wat I understand SCGS is not as popular as 1st tier popular schs like the RGS and NYGH and MGS and specialized dance program sch and usu used as a backup. So if I am assuming if one has either MGS 4 years CO or SCGS CO, most will choose MGS which still got chance to convert to IP based on results. If recieve MGS IP CO vs SCGS CO, usu most will be in favor of MGS. How many rec'd CO for dance heard also not a lot but a lot of WLs for dance as suspecting most are using SCGS as a backup. Usu ppl will choose SOTA, MGS, NYGH if using dance DSA. -

Received CO from SOTA for dance, but not sure if to accept it, DD loves dancing but heard the dancers’ schedule are tough at SOTA, need to cope with IB schedule and dancers basically dance at least 11 hrs per week, school can end at 12am when there is performance or competition, this was told by a friend’s hubby who was SOTA maths teacher. Also, understand SOTA now only allow one science at year 5 and 6, is it true?
double science for those able to manage… its a case by case basis from what i heard at the parents symposium"
I personally spoke to the Head of Science at SOTA during Open House earlier this year; he assured me that Year 5 n 6 students who are academically strong in science will be given the opportunity to take up double science on a case to case basis. However, there is no triple science combination in SOTA, so Medicine at tertiary level would probably not be a viable option for SOTA students.
Hope the info helps.
Does tis means that the student has to drop the arts form Gp 6 to take additional science subject or add on as I knw is 6 Subjects total with the artform -

JIalat right anyway long story will not elaborate further.
Okay lah, take it as learning process and experience. It was actually quite tedious to record the video and send via youtube to them. We re-took the video for her dance few times....and still had to pay $70 for the entrance test...
