The gap between the top-end (26X, 27X) and mid-tier (23X, 24X) opened up compared to 2018 tying in with 2019 papers being considered harder and good students performing better.

This would mean (compared to 2018),

1) Student A (T-score: 259) might find it difficult to enter RGS (2018 COP 259) while
2) Student B (T-score: 240) might be able to find a place in Crescent Girls (2018 COP 242)

I tend to think that the data is real, if we look at ESIS cutoff, for 2018’s batch, it was at 260 and there were around 1200+ students who scored 260 and higher whereas for this year the ESIS cutoff is at 261, which has also around 1200+ students scoring this and higher. Hmm...

Does the COP for the following year capture the DSA students T-score from the prior year?


Successfully placed DSA students can't appeal and move onto another even if they meet the COP.

Yes, we are talking about those with higher tscore e.g 259, 260 but didnt put the top schs as first choice. If there are substantial numbers, cop only known after posting exercise, these kids who appealed successfully will not be captured, hence the cop of their first choice schs mid tier will be higher than it should. Hence mid tier schools and below got affected by this unnatural outcome.

ESIS cutoff as of 2019 is 261 from MOE. From their website,

I assumed ~1000 got 261 at least. So I arrived at 2.5%. No fixed numbers.

MOE might not use number of indep sch places to compute ESIS. It might be computed like this:

Can you share if you have the 10% third-language cutoff for PSLE 2019 Vs 2018?

Someone mentioned earlier it's 252 for both 2018 and 2019.
Another mentioned it was 250.

I called MOE to check but they said they don't have the numbers.

You get scholarship if you are Singaporean, get >=261 and get into an IS school (IP or OP).
As for derivation, it's based on top 1/3 of eligible students to all IS schools (8 IS + NUSH, SST, SOTA, SSS).

I don't know the total number of available IS places (anyone?). Else can find total number of students eligible for IS. Also, we wouldn't know how many Singaporean students got it.

Idea is if we know the cut offs for the top 2% and 10% of cohort, we generally know how the cohort did and how to base our top 3 choices on.

MOE doesn't reveal these numbers. But, we can work backwards based on some assumptions.

Rudimentary question. For comparison, how the 2019 cohort did overall,

1) What is the ESIS cut-off? The top one-third is based on how many independent school places? Do we include SSS, SST, SOTA etc?

2) What is the cut-off for 10% of the cohort offered Cat C third language?

Can someone who has it list down 2019 vs 2018 vs 2017?
