As you didn't share the name of School X. A generic advice is you check for any BTOs or new Condo launches that's TOPing this year or next year. These new home owners will also naturally try for School X during Phase 2C if they have no alumni, grassroots or staff links.

After a long hiatus, I am back to visit this thread. I have replanned and am ready to relocate in early 2024 for phase 2A to School X (shy) . I only pray no balloting for 1km in that phase out of ordinary (past records is ballot more than 2km /no ballot) . Fingers crossed. Not that i am super kiasu but i dont want to be balloting in phase 2C in my area. I also have mixed feelings to move, but seems like the best option.

In worst case scenario, if 2A you got balloted and failed. What's your 2B or 2C backup plan? This is important to think first rather than panic at the last minute.

If she is indeed Rosyth Alumni, the first important thing she need to confirm is : got any school bus from her house (near HGS), go to Rosyth @ Serangoon North ?

If suppose no school bus, next question is : how to go Rosyth then, everyday ? Does she drive, her spouse drive, then what about the return trip back home from school, who fetch ? If cannot resolve transport issue, then only way out is, choose Haig Girls. As long as her daughter is SC, is safe for HGS

Your questions are very valid. I have friends who are alumni of XXX primary school and want to try 2A but staying beyond 2/3/4km. They have no car and are keen for school bus but at the same time worried that the child needs to wake up super early 5 school days a week for the next 6 years of the life. Many of these mainland PRC, even if not in GEP, in any mainstream primary schools, good ones are really good. In the first place, they are very hardworking and hungry for success.

Many of them came over with their parents who are academics or professionals, not farmers!

Besides PRC Chinese, the Indians are another force to be reckoned with. In my daughter’s batch, the top gepper for English in her school is of Indian origin and top gepper for Maths is also of Indian origin. This is exceptional considering that there were only 5 Indian geppers in her school’s GEP cohort.
