Hi New2SgEdu
my child is there! And for the past 2 years, i find the school is really partnering her parents in education. They will constantly update us about our kids progress and provide suggestions how to help our kids. In terms of curriculum, i think across the board is the same, since MOE will approve the syllabus and what schools should teach, base on age appropriate. As for surrounding, the school is there in their existing building for about 2 years? As such, many facilities are still pretty new. We had a tour of the building before, they have many state of the art facilities to carry out the programmes. And my kid looks forward to attending school every day!
And i know that there was a year, the kids were invited to the Istana to perform in front of our president, PM and ministers. If the kids there are really so ‘ah beng’ i guess, they also wont be invited to such a session.
As a parent, i think the school is doing her best to teach and educate the children. However, we as parents also have to play our part, to help teach our kids. After all, this is a school, 1 teacher to 30 kids, also not quite easy to manage.

kkan99:
Hi kkan99Hey, there is a Parent Seminar for parents with Primary One going children. \"Primary one education at a glance\". I think it's useful for parents who want to know about preparing their children for first days of school. Check it out
http://www.guangyangpri.moe.edu.sg/
Is this similar to the one last year? I attended last year at the same place with a similar name. haha!
I thought this was pretty helpful, it kinda prep us what to expect on the first day and through there i also know what to PACK for my child's school bag! Otherwise, i think i am gonna load EVERYTHING into the bag! PHEW!! :yikes: -

Hi Funny Parent!hai !!!,
hello everyone there ,got to enrol my kids this year for P1.considering between KCPS and Guangyang.Only thing bothering about Guangyang is why every year take up rate is so low.can any one there pls advice. Thanks in advance.
Fret not!We been through that frantic period!
Reason being guangyang's low take up rate is because (based on the homework that i've done last year) they were surrounded by all the 'branded' schools like Aitong, Cat High and others. And they were also not at Bishan for 2 years. So thats why it has low take up rate.
However, given their new building, during 2012 intake, the number of classes has increased! This year, they have 6 classes of P1! Hope this helps! -
RE: Guangyang Primary
Hi!!
So far school is into the 2nd term and my child is enjoying his time here!
We just had the parents teacher conference / meeting before the school holidays. Saw the progress report, they called it pupils’ portfolio because of some PERI implementation… In short, i find their files very colourful and fun looking!! Of cos, more to improve on!
As for the facilities, i only saw once during the 1st day of school when the school conducted the school tour, cant recall much. But it looks kinda different from the normal primary school? I only remember seeing a playground beside the canteen! How I wish we have that during our time!
The P1 teachers were very proactive in giving feedbacks and updates on my child. I find that good! -
RE: Guangyang Primary
I think we all have our fair shares of positive and negative reviews. If all schools are so positive then i think something is wrong… Surely got some not so good comments about school / teachers / principals. But i think as long as the children are happy, enjoy learning and thats what we parents want.
So far, i find the Prinicpal in gyps is not as bad as mentioned as i personally met her before (though its only one time, during the P1 registration). Anyway, its all our own opinion i guess… -

Hi joyfulsally!!
Oh!! Which level is your son in now?? How is the building like now? Your hubby has such a sense of humor!!! :boogie:
Btw, i heard that this Principal in GYPS seems to be very hands on. Very different from what was mentioned by Marzuki. When i was there to do registration, many staff was saying that this Principal personally go down to the ground and understand situation. Like coaching the P6 students before their PSLE. And even personally bring children for overseas trip.
Is it true?? -

Ya, maybe try again this afternoon to get a more accurate number? And you went to 'test' the route? the route so horrible? Hmmm.... I doubt i will drive there, probably let my children take school bus. Otherwise, take public buses with the kids lo..... :yikes: -

I hope not ba. Cos i understand based on past histories, they dont have balloting in this phase. :xedfingers:
I called them, they only quoted 90 over vacancies. So i supposed all are still safe.
