Thank you for your replies! Yup, I think it’s dodgy when the agent doesn’t have the wp number.

Hai, still looking for needle in a haystack. Bios all look very promising until I call to interview them or until I ask for their WP.

One ex singapore maid claimed to have finished 2 contracts in 4 years but when I checked her record, she had 7 employers!

There are those who claimed to have worked in middle east but couldn’t produce proof of their passports.

And then those who have worked in the middle east but in countries like kuwait, qattar, dubai, jordan all seem to have quite senang jobs cos it seems that a lot of the households there have more than 1 maid.

Can’t seem to get any from Saudi Arabia or HK.

Dear parents, need help here. Is it possible for an agency not to have the work permit number of the maids they’re representing? One agency I called told me that they didn’t represent the maid when she was in singapore, so they won’t be able to have her wp until they apply for her to come to singapore.

      Got such things?

Now looking for maid. This time, I die die want those with ex Saudi Experience and who are preferably in their thirties. I’m wondering if 40 is too old?

      Thanks!

      minnie:
Taking a fresh maid with working experience in hometown.

Hi minnie, sorry to hear about your maid. BTW, do be mindful that working experience in hometown is very hard to verify.

I took in maids with supposedly at least 2 to 3 years experience in their countries. Turns out that they lied. I only discovered that when they started working for me, because there is no way they could have had the working experience they had and not be able to cope with a small house, without even having to look after children. And of course, when I asked them in greater detail about their so-called working experience, they started to fumble, even though they were v confident when I interviewed them.

So you really, really have to keep both eyes open. Because the maids will lie to get a job here, and many agents won't bother as long as they get the maids hired.

    • RE: All About Life Without Maids

      Hi fifiyeo,

How are your robots so far? Am thinking of getting them too but am worried that roomba can’t cope with long hair and dog fur. Also, seems that scooba has some issues with durability.

      Thanks!

Hi carebear, i told my maid that she was to come to me. But i think next time i must be clearer and say come to me only, don't bother sir especially when i'm around or i will send you packing!

Must tell the husband the same thing: come to me only, or i will also send you packing! :rotflmao:

Ppl are just v good at selective hearing, i guess?

And the thing about plain and simple maids... For both maids, they looked v simple, and v cheerful in their biodatas. The current maid was also v plump for her height at about 56kg. But phwao, i almost :faint: when i saw both maids for the first time!

Both are pretty, v unlike the photos i've seen. And both like wearing skin tight jeans. The current one had even lost 8 kg just before she came. I was like WTH!

The current one also the same pattern as the previous one in dressing. Colourful ( black, red, embroidered) bras, tight jeans, into makeup from their personal photos i've seen. This one better still, thought i saw g-strings under her pants! :faint:

But cos i didn't see a repeat of the g-string incident, i just let it be. Thought could be my eyes playing tricks on me. But i did tell her to change when she was wearing a black bra under her yellow t-shirt. Am really amazed at their idea of acceptable dressing, or is that the way they dress back home too?

I think must have as my criteria next time that the maid must be ugly, have moustache, be flat as an airport both front and back, and wear gunny sack-like clothes and granny underwear! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

And i think i should reject them on the spot if i so much as find a non-nude coloured bra in their luggage! :rotflmao: The agent might think that i'm :siao: but better safe than sorry!

Hi jtoh, i guess all maids will know that the wives are in charge of domestic stuff cos it will be the same in their countries too. Most of the time, they go to the husbands because they want to try their luck! Sort of like kids playing one parent against another. So i think your ex-maid would have tried her luck even if you were the one giving her the salary.

      It's totally the maid's fault. 😛 :snuggles:

    • RE: All About Vacuum Cleaner

      Merry xmas, prata queen!

My dd and i are allergic to dustmites as well. Sorry, can’t help you with the vacuums. We don’t vacuum, but mop the floors everyday, and wipe the furniture with damp cloths. We also wash the bedlinen and curtains with anti dustmite additives, or wash them in hot cycles. I find that these measures help a lot, even though we don’t vacuum.

      Merry christma, carebear and jtoh!

Maybe i should get a short maid next time, since i don’t need her to hang clothes out of the window.

Wah, jtoh, your maid was so daring! So far, i haven’t heard of her complaining to my husband. If she dares to, then i’ll prob also send her packing too!

My husband is like my maid, have to keep nagging at him.

@contact12: i had warned my husband about the dangers of too much interaction with the maids before we hired the first one. Warned him about the dangers of maids crying wolf etc. Haiz, but does he listen? The maids speak in sweet and innocent voices, and shower him with warm smiles, and he thinks that they are poor innocent souls! :frustrated:

After the latest incident, i was v angry and told him to ask the maid to come to me for instructions. The next, he still entertained the maid when she went to him, although he was more stern. But still... :slapshead:

The maid knows that i am the one in charge cos i pay her salary and her work permit is under my name. But she is still cunning enough to try her luck. She used to only come to me for instructions, but after she realised that i won't budge on the rules, she changed and started approaching my husband.

And i think the maid next door is really a bad influence on her. Urgh, i hope the neighbours change her!
