    • RE: All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

      Hi all,

Was filling up the HPPS PV form and there was a box that states"I’m applying PV for other schools also"
I find that weird but if i am truthful, will it affect my chances of getting in?

    • RE: Financial Advice needed BADLY

      Hi all,

Thanks for the advice and motivation. I am currently doing almost everything that all of you recommend. I am seriously committed to be debt free. So far, I am trying to get a better deal in clearing my debts.
I'm working 2 jobs ( don't tell my boss) to increase my income to pay off my debts. I am trying to get help from my insurance agent to see if i can get at least 6 months off paying the insurance, so i can use that money to pay my debts. I haven't been on a holiday for 1.5 years. I don't want to incur anymore debt and once i get my bonus, i'll use it to settle my girl's school fees for the year so i have one less thing to pay monthly. Things are looking up this rabbit year so I hope it wil stay that way or get even better. Thanks to all of you for the advice, motivation and support. Have a good holiday and Happy Chinese New Year to ALL.

    • RE: Temper Tantrums

      This happened yesterday.

My DD2 who is 23 months screamed her head off at Jurong West Swimming Pool becoz she wanted to go into the pool naked. I explained that she couldn't go in unless she was dressed and she was screaming \"Open Pants!\" for a good whole 5 minutes. AFter entertaining the crowd trying to console a half-naked baby, we managed to persuade her to go and buy a new swim suit as we thought she was uncomfortable in her old one. After buying a new suit, my DD who is still half naked(bottom half, i covered with a towel ) got undressed. We thought it was because she wanted to wear her new swimsuit but she was reminded of her original plan of swimming naked  . So here we were struggling with a naked baby, forcing her to dress up and she was screaming her head off\" I don't want!\"
AFter entertaining the crowd again for a good 5 minutes, MY DD2 decided she wanted in on the action and proceeded to run happily to the wave pool to swim. Btw my DD1 is only 3 years old. SO I SCREAMED for her to stop, she merely looked back, smiled and proceeded into the pool. My husband ran to stop her, so I was holding a cranky baby, screaming for my 1st baby and damn scared my husband would fall and not catch my DD1 in time.

He managed to catch hold of her only becoz my DD1 decided at the edge of the pool was the place to wait for her dad to join her... 😢
My DD2 was consoled after i brought her to a wave pool and playing tricks with her and she was okay after that.

Fortunately, i am very thick skinned

      Thanks all,

I'm touched by all the suggestions and concern. I will definitely try all the above. I have the insurance but I'm not sure if it has the value yet, i think it is less that 10 years old. I will call up the credit card company and try and resolve a solution with them. Need to do it soon though...

We were really doing well until we let the maid go. I don't know if my maid cursed us or something but she left on her own accord. We are really struggling. Its good that I can air this out here and get useful feedback from kiasu parents.
Thanks alot guys. Will update you about my situation, keep on giving me advice if there are other alternatives to solve my financial situation.

Sorry but what has the maid leaving you got to do with you financial woes?

LoL! I meant that we were doing well in paying off our debts until my maid left. I think she cursed us becoz after that my kids starting to get sick and we spent alot of money in medical fees which ate into our very tight budget... From scabies to HFMD... they got all that in within 3 months...
I'm not blaming her.. just voicing abit of frustration...
      Sorry to confuse you...

Btw, duriz, things are still like that. I'm trying to meet up with the credit card company this Saturday to try and work out a solution with them. I'm also meeting up with insurance agent to see if my policy can give a small loan to pay my debts... I think it will take a bit of time before things will get better. But I'm pulling myself together and working towards being debt free. :celebrate:

    • Financial Advice needed BADLY

      Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to start this topic but I think I need Financial Advice from Parents out there.

I have made BAD financial decisions starting from 2 years ago when I enrolled my girl in enrichment courses and paid through credit cards and i took my time paying it. Then WE made the BIGGEST mistake by getting a loan to play in stocks and bombed it Badly. Then we took a bigger loan to cover all the credit card debts and loans but it didn't cover it. In total, I was in $25 000 in debt with the credit card company. We managed to pay $15000 in 1 year and still have $10000 to go but we made another BIG mistake. We let go of our maid thinking that it will save us money and allow the children a more structured environment.
ALthough the kids are doing well, we are now struggling to make ends meet as we are swamped with bills and credit card company is charging us interest and late payments and I haven't been able to pay my girls school fees on time.

I need advice to how I can better my situation. :?: :?: :?:

    • RE: How do I minimise the damage my SPOILT nephew has on my kids

      Thanks all,

Haiyah... Must really accept the fact. 😢

Both my family and my DH family say I very fierce one. All my naughty nieces or nephews have been :spank: by me. I'm very thick-skinned, not scared to shoot parents especially when they come over my house. But this nephew ah... :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: parents are more thick-skinned than me :frustrated. I :nunchuk: him infront of his parents and they didn't even bat an eye. Feel like :pokeeye: Relatives rarely invite their family to outings and all the other nieces and nephew avoid playing with him. Yes, he is that bad!

Okay, must accept fact that I am going to be a naggy mum. Repetition is the key to instilling good behaviour. I don't know what to expect when they go to CC this June.

    • How do I minimise the damage my SPOILT nephew has on my kids

      Hi,

I have a 5 year old nephew who has been spoilt badly and has turned out to be a very spoilt brat who is rude and loud. His parents have never taken him in hand and whenever I'm around, I'm the one who disciplines him. I have two DDs who plays with him whenever we go to PIL place. After we go home, I noticed my DD1 trying to imitate his loud and rude actions. My DD2 doesn't like his loud and rude behaviour and will avoid him as much as possible but she likes to copy DD1 so damage is still being done to my girls.

I try my best to avoid going to my PILs when he's there but I can't do that all the time. I reprimand my nephew all the time to the point where I think his parents think I hate him. I don't hate him just his actions and I can't blame him for it. His parents are the reason why he is like that.
As much as I can, i try to teach my girls the right behaviour. But whenever we meet up with him, i have to start certain lessons all over again. Btw, my DD1 is 2.5 years and my DD2 is 1.5 years so they are very impressionable.
