    • RE: Third languages

      Hi

Any idea how much time per week is to be spent on lessons by student taking third language at MOELC?

Wanted to convince DD to choose Bahasa Indonesian/Malay since it can be used in daily life (instead of Japanese), but I guess interest and passion makes a difference in picking up a different language.

      Hi Doodbug and lee_yl

Thanks for your replies! It is a relief to know that the environment is not cut throat, ultimately the joy of learning is important. 4 years is long.
Will be making our choice these 2 days. Thanks for the assurance!

    • RE: Singapore Chinese Girls School (Secondary)

      Hello,

Can any parents with existing child in this school share on the support level for IP students? Understand this will be based on individual student, are Teachers available/approachable for consultation especially in Maths/ Science subjects?

    • RE: 2020 PSLE Discussions and Strategies(for those born in 2008)

      Hi

Would like to have some advice. When you choose an IP stream say in SCGS but over the years may wish to do a transfer to another JC say in Year 5, any idea whether this is viable ? Or will it be wiser to just choose O level stream instead?

      Hi Floppy

Thanks for the reply. It’s good to hear your view.
Shall think it through and discuss with him again.
His science is a few marks short of the overall minimum for the cut off and he would have to put in a lot of effort to perform well for O levels, but having said that, it is also good to consider the alternative choice ( as suggested).

      Thanks!

    • RE: Secondary 2 Streaming

      Hi, would like some advice.

My ds is offered combined science (phy/chem) and POA although he is very interested in science.

Will having just 1 combined science affect his route to JC after the O levels , assuming he wants to pursue Science subjects? Or having 2 pure science subjects is better? Would have to appeal if this is the basic requirements.

He is being offered POA but I feel that POA can always be studied after O levels if interest is there and it is too early to "cement" his route for now.

      Thanks!

    • RE: To take unpaid leave in P5 or P6 for PSLE ?

It is a very nice gesture for your boss to allow unpaid leave. Do plan the 3 months properly and do it early especially the holidays or beginning of the year. For P6 there will be a lot of Homework/after school class etc, thus school holidays are precious.

If financial circumstances allow, unpaid leave is a win-win situation for both parties. However do not give pressure to the child by mentioning about this aspect.
Think of it as having the extra time to do your own stuff and enjoy the journey with your child. Enjoy the process. Good luck!

Just want to know the range as it is a totally new area for me since child is in Sec one.
