Hi parents of older hci boys, i wont be able to make it for the year 2 symposium. How crucial is it that we need to attend?

From your experience, will the boys themselves be given a separate briefing?

Forgot to add - drop off point for high school is via gate 3 (just before Namly Ave) or gate 4 (enter by Namly avenue). From gate 3, can drop them along the drive way and exit at gate 2, or Turn Right\" after entering gate 3, then left, and drop them at the sheltered drop off point near the open air carpark. Exit via gate 5 (near boarding school) to namly Ave.


If you enter at gate 4, you can drop them along the road leading to HCIS. You'll also have to exit by gate 5, which will lead you to namly avenue.

Your Son may be able to tell you which he prefers after a couple of weeks as one drop off point may be nearer to his classroom than the other.

There is a private bus that takes students from Bedok reservoir area to HCI. Pick up time is about 6.15am at Clearwater/Aquarius/Bedok Res View. From here it goes straight onto the PIE to HCI, so other areas might have earlier pick up time. Rates are based on distance, we pay about $120 /mth.

There will be a bus service coordinator on registration day for you to enquire the bus service from your area.

I believe it's 5 bus stops from Botanic Gdn MRT to the High School bus stop. HCI itself has 3 bus stops spanning the length of the property - first one at TKK, 2nd one after Gate 2 (driving entrance to JC side), and one after Gate 3 (entrance to High School side).


If I remember correctly, there are at least 6 or 7 buses the boys can take from Botanics to school, so the wait is not long. AND, it is 100% sheltered from the bus stop at Gate 3 to the school building.

Most high school boys still take the bus from Botanic Gardens MRT, as TKK is right at the other end of the school (JC section). I have seen boys taking bus from the TKK bus stop to the High School bus stop (2 bus stops away). Sixth Ave is too far away.


As for subjects Sec 1 take - English Lang & Lit (books change every year), HCL, Science, Maths, History/Geog (one subject per semester). These are the core ones. They have other subjects like Art, Music and Project Work (can't remember the correct name).

Book list will be available towards the end of the year, around posting results time. Those who have COs and confirmed going to HCI can go down to buy books/uniforms before posting results are released, to avoid the queue on reporting day.
