we decided not to take school bus because of that… saves about 30min

same here… think I won’t do much better… he may have to wake me up… can’t remember the last time we woke up at 6am…

Thanks for replying to my queries… we’ll just wait and see then… really no rush to have him join CCA this early, esp since we have a transport issue staying in bt merah… as for piano… well, maybe have to sign up for lessons outside school… see how…

er.. no leh.. tables were set up for registration at orientation and aesthetics CCA form was also in the infopack.. we heard the principal use the word 'mandatory' .. that's why we're a little confused.. and the Band screening is on 1st day of school at 2pm!

Btw, my son likes to learn piano so we chose band..

CH has a long history (I really mean history as some of the old boys are already father or even grandfather) for being strong in maths.

I think so too.. my dad is now nearly 70 and his maths has always been good, my maths is not shabby too (As at 'O' and 'A' levels)..

Hello everyone. My kid will be attending P1 next year and I need to understand the CCA situation better cos I didn’t quite catch what the principle was saying and the infopack didn’t give enough info… so here goes…


Is aesthetics CCA mandatory?
I emailed the private coordintor for the Band CCA and he mentioned practice will be 2-3.30pm. How are P1 kids going to take care of themselves for lunch, etc?
What if CCA bus doesn’t have the bt merah route?
CCA seems like quite a hassle… esp for kids so young… can he not sign up for any CCA during P1/P2 at all?

My son will be going to P1 come 2011 and us parents of XJ need some advice and more info to help us with some decisions. Hope other parents here can lend a hand

Ok. Our old schools are Catholic High (Bishan) and Temasek Pri (Bedok), but we live in Bukit Merah... bummer right. Direct entry to pretty good schools but still out of reach...

So first we're trying to find out how the school bus arrangement works for Catholic High. Though distance may be a little long, but the path through lornie-farrer-queensway is quite fast. So if a school bus services our area then maybe the journey need not be longer than 30-40min? (is this still considered long for P1 kids?)

Is arranging cab to and fro daily advisable? We drive but it is out of the way from our workplaces.

Also, what are the school hours for single-session schools like CH?

We did a tour of Bishan twice and not too keen to move there, esp since we'll be even further from both our parents' homes. Dad's parents stay in Bukit Merah while Mom's parents stay in Bedok.

We're still considering Temasek cos we're not catholic, not good in chinese and am afraid CH may be too stressful (and not just for the kid!). And of course Temasek is near one of our parents.

Or should we just settle on a school nearby.. help...
