Halo Bay,

It's OK, we are just sharing what we know lor. 😄

Yes, I am referring to the Monday 10.15-12pm enrichment class.
To what I know, the identified ones were taught on rather \"chim\" vocab/thesaurus and thinking maths.

I heard that two years ago, only 25 students were being identified based on the so-called \"ability test\". But last year, it was increased to 50 students but I don't know whether they were selected based on Term 1 result or otherwise.

Bay:
Hi Hgn888,

Never hear of GEP-training in Rosyth. Maybe I am not aware. What I know is that P3 students who are strong in english and maths are encourage to attend an enrichment class on Monday. Maybe this is the class that PerryAve was referring to.

Perry, pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Criteria for the above: I think it's based on Term1 result. Never hear my ds mention about 'ability test' . . . or maybe he didn't tell me lah.

Hi KiasuNewbie,

Yes, the p3 students will sit for an "ability test" during the 1st term.
Those who’re strong in EL & MA will be selected for the so-called "GEP" training, about 50 of them.
They will be divide into 2 groups for a ~2hr EL & MA enrichment class once a week.

Critiria: EL & MA subj.

All,
I hope my info is correct … pls feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

My girl is in P1 Diligent. Got this magazine subscription form for '好朋友'. Is it mandatory to subscribe? Is it beneficial?

Hi,
Yes. The worksht in the mag will be used as part of their MT learning.
'好朋友' is meant for p1/2
'知识画报' for p3/4
'知识报' for p5/6

🙂

Noted that there is enrichment classes for P1 English and Chinese on Saturdays at Rosyth. Any idea if we should send our kids for these classes, as I noted these classes seem to be organised by external tuition centres?

Also noted there is violin and ballet on Sat and Sun? Are these called CCAs which we have to get our kids to attend?

I am a new parent for P1 school going kids, appreciate some advice. Thanks.
CCA is not compulsary for lower primary.
The weekend enrichment classes/CCA are conducted by external vendors, not compulsary. Only some of the CCAs are 'recognised' by RS.
Juz FYR, attached is the 2011 CCA list.

• RE: Q&A - P4 Chinese

nan.nan:
Cafelatte - sorry I was away for last few days. Thank you for your kind compliment. I guess there must be many more others who are good at Chinese. I am new to this forum but I can see that many many parents are very active in helping their children's school work by asking many questions and discussing solutions. However I noticed that, comparatively, the number of postings in the Chinese subject forums are much lesser than the others. So I think helping our children in the Chinese subject should be no different from other subjects - we must first take an interest in it ourselves. To start doing that, I guess we must first try to use that language more, set a good example ourselves. I wasn't sure if the community here welcome the idea of writing the entire post in Chinese. I gave it a try. Since no one raise any objection, perhaps we can continue. Or should we ask the Chief about this ?

i guess they should automatically continue as prefect next year. i have heard that sometimes they do remove a child from a prefect position anytime if he/she not behaving/performing duty well. your child must be outstanding as the 'selection' is usually only done in p2 and thereafter they just move on with the same group of kids.

yes, my messenger [i.e. my son :)] cfmd that his teacher removed his classmate's prefect badge in p3 for unacceptable behaviour after several warnings.
