This is a \"loop-hole\" exploited in this case!

Mind you, this case is a life of a 12-year-old special need girl - it is such a tragedy for her and her family just because of a stupid act of the domestic helper. Why should murderer get away scot-free? If she comes as a 24-year-old to work here, she should be trial as a 24-year-old for her own action!

Over the years, haven't we seen enough cases of tragedies caused by these domestic helpers who were just \"revengeful\" or \"in a fit of anger\" or \"just stressed and lost their mind\"? Most of them got away with little punishment. Isn't it time we ensure law is fair to protect the employers too? in singapore, we still can track and trace peoples' identities based on birth certs and NRIC due to our strict laws but in foreign countries such official documents also can be printed and photocopied from internet mah.

Saw it reported in papers that all she would have to do was to get her parents and go to the headman and declare how old she is, and ta-da! she can say she's 23 and come out to work.

Just half wondering, is she really 16? Now say she's 16, but what is her real actual age?

This is ridiculous! In the first place, she mis-reported her age to come and work here. Both her government and our government did nothing to ensure this information is accurate. How is the employer to know that she is \"underage\" and \" not qualified\" to take care of the kid? When a maid did a major harm like this, the embassy would get her a lawyer and start digging all ways out for her. Then the truth of age comes out! Where is the law to protect the employer who ended up losing a kid in this tragedy? In the shoes of the parents, I really feel pain and unfairness for them!
