Can I join in the fun here? I have longed to get a bread machine long ago, then saw this thread and it's so amazing! I decided to pop over to OG to get the Z machine at the special price!

Tried first time, the basic bread seemed abit heavy and dense although got some fluffiness.

Tried second time, top is much softer now, but bottom still a little dense. Is it flour problem or yeast problem?! :scratchhead:
Also realised I need to get a bread knife too to cut nicely! But overall, it's a good and easy experience making the bread. Must try harder ...

Does it involve alot of time for training?
My gal wishes to switch to brass band, but I dunno if it's a good idea?

I'm not sure if they have, maybe not bcos I dun see big kids around. Last time I know a mummy that did send her kid for the P1 class. My dd1 stopped class at 6 and dd2 has stopped recently. I think they benefitted and time to move on with other things

just like to share my experience.

some parents are skeptical of shichida, while some parents agreed that it help their kids in some way.

my 2 kids attended their classes for over 4 years. dd1 is p1 now, and school is really a breeze for her so far. somehow she got this memory thing, so spelling and tingxie is always learned only on the test morning. but what surprised me was this: they have chinese S&D enrichment in school and every class will perform something, the teacher tried a few kids to take the main role but they could not remember the whole script, so the teacher ask who can and my dd volunteered. she just somehow remembered script while attending the weekly classes, and i did not even go through the script with her. dd’s show-n-tell in school was good too as she remembers her script with ease. so it’s quite amazing.

dd2 is k1 and her chinese standard is around p1. somehow she can remember the chinese characters very quickly, so she’s reading reasonable storybooks with alot of characters. this second kid also has good english reading as she is reading the sister’s rainbow magic books.

i won’t know if the kids will turn out similar if they hadn’t attend shichida, so no comparison. but like other parents, i will have no discipline to give them right brain training at home myself, so kudos to the teachers that taught them well!

Here is the link, 3 kinds of membership. 2 with free hotel stay & 1 is only on the food discount. Two years ago, the complimentary night stay can be used on National Day, so it's was really worth it with the numerous complimentary buffets throw in. But due to change of management, it can't be used on National Day anymore.


If you are keen on food, they have ONE OR TWO 50% discount voucher for 6-12 persons at all their restaurants, depending on the membership, if I remember correctly which is worth it if it's a hefty bill, but with some blackout dates like CNY. In addition, with the membership, you will enjoy discount up to 50% on food depending on the number of persons dining with member.

If I didnt remember wrongly, I think one of the AMEX card do comes with free membership without the hotel stay but the annual fee of the card is about $300 p.a. Hope it helps!

Wonder got any other hotel card recommendations ??? I think some need to spend a certain amt before joining. But I hope to find one that just need to pay for annual subscription :lol:

Not sure how to call these cards, but previously, we have purchased such a card where we can eat at the Mandarin related hotels’ restaurants with some discounts. We have also tried the Millennium related hotels’.


Does anyone have any recommendation for swissotel hotels? How much and what kind of perks do you get?

Currently searching for a pre school for my 21mths old girl. Visited Ykidz in Sin Ming, not impress. Their teacher brought their own todler child to attend same class, the child was crying and cling onto his mom....still searching in Thomson/bishan area, any can help???

Have you visited marymount kindergarten? They have pre-nursery class, since your child will be 3 next year right?

Hi, did any P1 parent hear about some test being conducted? Wonder what was the purpose of it? Checking their proficiency?
