Now there is one package collection offering 42 books at 20 pounds...
But they don't offer all the titles at the same time....before x'mas they use to throw out good offer....I got it within 2 weeks...

if you plan to buy in bulk, it is definitely more worth it to purchase from overseas...and also save the 7% GST.

How do you order and deliver the books since they only accept UK or Ireland order online? Am thinking of buying some books there.

Also interested in buying some books from them. Do they accept credit card payment from singapore?[/quote]yes..

My dd is in Tien Hsia and she is doing great in HCL because Tien Hsia follows the MOE syllabus very closely and she was drilled through the examination questions week after week till my dd complained that it was too boring. I put a gamble next year in moving her to Berries for P2. Hopefully it will work as well or even better for her. If not I will have to move her back to Tien Hsia.

I am contemplating to switch mine from Berries to Tien Hsia (or private one-to-one) for her P4 next year. I find for her P3, berries coverage is not intensive enough for HCL, I have to cover most job. I review Tien Hsia materials, and agree that they are abit dry, but very close to school text context.

She started with Berries at P2. She was alright throughout that level.

I will try for 2 terms and if alright i will let her stay till end of P2. Look like I will have to move her back to Tien Hsia in P3.

Not that bad if your ds goes to Berries. Come P1 Berries will catch up too just go thru the Berries lesson notes with your ds consistently and he will be fine.

Hopefully so. For Berries next year, ds is placed in the HCL P1 class so should be able to supplement what is taught in PH rite?

It should be fine. Oh dear.. my DH was asking me to stop reading this forum bcos all these posts are making me break out in cold sweat  I barely passed my o level chinese!! My fren who is a chinese teacher was assuring me that if I can keep pace with his studies, I should be able to cope sufficiently to help him in his work. Guess this mommy better start reading more chinese books 😢

Can anyone recommend me a good assessment book for P1 chinese? I prefer those exercises that build up step by step, like the peter & Jane series kinda style. So that it helps DS1 to build up his confidence for the subject. aiyah.. since I'm asking, any good recommendations for other subjects are also welcomed!! TIA!!

I knew the books are coming in today. So there was much anticipation.

But after browsing thru the HCL text, in place of anticipation now there is only trepidation

don't worry, markfch...my dd couldn't utter a single word when she was in K1 and now she is coping very well in her HCL.....my feeling was like you before....furthermore, your ds is having lesson at Berries, no problem la....with the exposure the kids have in PH, they can pick up very fast one...

Just received ds's P1 books. I took a peep at the chinese books. Wow, HCL is really not simple. Let's just say that I'm so glad I took the advice of some people here and cajoled ds to read chinese books daily since the beginning of K2. The standard is much higher than K2 Berries that ds is currently attending. If kids are not trained in chinese pre-primary, how are they going to survive HCL?

I bought the chinese picture dictionary too. I actual find it quite useful leh. Learnt a few new words from it already. Social studies is also in chinese, wow (but at least I can tell that the chinese used there is normal CL, not HCL). Actually the english & maths text are also not simple (why does P1 need 6 maths books?), but HCL takes the cake.

Guess I'm really hit by reality liao 😐 . Existing kids in Charity 2 must really be very well trained or very smart or both.
markfch, you better faster go and master your han yu pin ying, if not you will lose to your ds in six months time....in p1, they are taught how to type a word document in chinese character using han yu ping ying....no joke hor.....e-learning also the same.....now i this old man lost to my dd liao.....
