My son was in Grace 1...if he had been able to get good scores in P2, he would have the chance to stay in Grace 2...unfortunately that was not the case. If my daughter goes to Pei Hwa, I think she would be in Charity 1.

Janet, my dd in P1 this year. will dd be allocated to a P2 class based on her P1 result? i heard the kids move on to the same class to P2. Is it true?

Hi php, for some other primary schools, yes, p1 n p2 remain in the same class. Not for PH, kids will be allocated classes based on their overall score, unless there is a change. By looking at the level position of your dd, you can hv a rough idea which class she'll be going next year.
Hi E3, with her standard, first 3 classes should be within reach. However, the problem is she missed 2 papers during SA1 - EL 1 and CL 1 because of medical reason and the school did not allow her to take the 2 papers and was given VR in her result. Although she did well in the remaining 3 papers, she only got her grade in Maths. So, my question is how will she be allocate based on her overall result? Or the school will just throw her into the last class....If that is the case, then it will definitely hurt her badly.....

Someone just told me Loyalty & Peace 1 are p2b classes

Ds will be in Peace 1. Being the first few names to be \"picked\" at p2c ballot excercise probably got him squeezed in with the rest from p2b...different class from his kindy buddies but at least in the same house as your ds, markfch πŸ˜‰ .

Btw, what is the numeral after the class name represent :? ? Does it means each class is spilt into 2 groups ie. Peace 1 and Peace 2?

Special tribute to E3 for compiling the parents list, :salute: !

Numeral stands for Level....1 for Pri 1, 2 for Pri 2 and so on...
Hi markfch and Mrs Bongz, my son going to be in Loyalty 1 too next year. I think I'm more excited than him

Another boy in Loyalty 1. Looks like this class will have lots of boys then. Someone just told me Loyalty & Peace 1 are p2b classes. I heard that this yr when the sch asked for help from parents of existing students, more than half of Loyalty 1 parents volunteered. The reason is that they're so used to volunteering as pv that they don't mind continuing. Hope we can maintain that record.

So see you around these corners in the coming yrs.

Hi markfch,we're actually under 2a2 :D
Loyalty 1 will have kids from 2A2 and 2B. Remaining kids from 2B will go to Peace 1. Tne no of each phase can't be group into class of 30 exactly....From this year no, kids from 2B should go to Loyalty 1 and Peace 1 after allocating kids from P1 and P2A2. School allocates the class according to the registration phase.

My son doesn't like his Eng teacher bcos she is very strict with the class...something I definitely welcome. The stricter the better. Kids who have strict teachers will have to listen and focus.

Hubby & I enjoyed the volunteering in the school. We get to see the students and how they interact. Next yr when daughter goes to P1 (though diff school), we will try to get involved too.
Hi Janet, is your ds in P4 this year? If so, you have another 2 years of opportunities to volunteer in Pei Hwa. How about getting your hubby to help out in Fathers@PHPPS? TIA..

jencrs:
I have nothing against you, 2ppaamm, but I feel I need to comment on your post and to share my views. I assure you, there's nothing personal.

Anyway, I have nothing much to comment on the ongoing case. For now, I'll just comment on what I do know, and not on speculations.

But before we get there, i'm going to make some assumptions based on what I've read, and since they're assumptions, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You're ex-raffles and probably not too far from Ong's age, maybe 10 years difference, give or take. So I'd assume you've never been a student in ACS while Ong was there as vice/principal. I don't think you'll disagree that knowing Ong as an aquaintance or friend, can be very different from knowing Ong as the vice/principal.

Also, I'm assuming you've never been a teacher at ACS while Ong was vice/principal. So you'd have no idea what it's like working under him.

Feel free to correct me. In the meantime, we'll continue to your post.
2ppaamm:

Even so, I cannot say that I know his character enough to vouch that he is not capable of any wrong doing........... No matter what the evidences are, I'll believe in what he says, because I know he is not capable of lying.

I'm afraid you contradict yourself. If you don't know him well enough to vouch for him, you can't possibly say you KNOW he's incapable of lying. And btw, everyone's capable of lying. Let's not put Ong on a pedestal and stick a halo over his head.
2ppaamm:
OTC tried to persuade me to put DS1 into ACS(I) at that time, since my son did top the HAST and was a medalist and State representative in his sport.
Hmmmm. I was a student at ACS while Ong was VP. While he was there, i've heard him encourage those who did well to go Raffles. And he did this openly, raising the ire of not only young students but loyal teachers as well. Essentially, as VP, he's saying that this school is not good enough for you, you should leave and go somewhere better. That is in the very least misguided and in poor taste. Instead, any self-respecting VP should encourage good students to remain, and to help bring the school to further heights with his fellow schoolmates. We've got teachers as capable and dedicated as any you can find in s'pore.

You don't believe me? Speak to any student or teacher during the time Ong was VP, and you'd find many who have witnessed the same thing. You want a name? PM me and I'll give you the name of a high profile person and a leader of his industry who has organised at least 1 petition to oust Ong out. He will attest to what i've written.

Of course, this is my personal experience, it doesn't mean that what you've said isn't true.
2ppaamm:
Nevertheless, I choose RI over ACS(I) for these reasons:
2. I am a loyal ex-Rafflesian.
So you agree at least at a personal level that school loyalty is of significance. See above.
2ppaamm:
Granted, he had a good staff, but remember, he chose his team well, and he provided the leadership. Listen to his staff and students about how he would go an extra mile to ensure they did well.
So you managed to speak to his staff at ACS(I)? Which employee would speak badly of his present employer with no fear of consequences to a stranger, or parent of a student, or a personal friend of said employer? Especially one who has a reputation of favourtism (according to newspaper reports) and has the power to hire and fire?

Did you also speak to some of the ex-teachers? You can find some of them at ACS barker rd because they're loyal enough to remain in the ACS family.
2ppaamm:
OTC was a great leader with a trustworthy character.
Again, if you're certain he's trustworthy, why can't you vouch for him?

Certainly, with Ong at the helm, ACS(I) has advanced and won numerous awards. But a good school is more than just awards.

And let's be honest, Ong has just as much to gain in his portfolio if ACS(I) does well.

I am neither ex-Rafflesian nor ex-ACS. Look like there is a battle going on between the 2 elites...There is no need to speculate, there is no need to support one or another.... The truth will be out...NKF saga was a good lesson and you know what i meant....

We r thinking of getting more PE attire too, as my DH remembers tearing his sleeves very often when playing in sch!! think PE attire can be more lasting?? πŸ™
pm you, thanks...

Your hubby can join us as ordinary member or in the organising committee. the group was formed few months ago. the objective is to support dadsforlife momement and to promote father-child bonding. we did a soft launch in aug during mid-autumn festival and our first event was in sep. coming next will be an event on nov, just before school holiday. If your hubby can spare the time, do join as in the organising committee. we are looking for at least one or more activities per term. so we definitely need more fathers to help out....If you hubby is interested, pm me his name, contact no, kid name and class and i will pass the info to the HOD in charge. Hope to meet up with your hubby soon....thks...

I did not know about the soft launch? seems like the information is not sent out to all fathers?

my son was keen to go for the sept event but it clashed with his tuition..

What activities did you guys have on that day?

Hi dyh, I think it's quite nice for you to go with your two boys since they are both PH students. I think my dh won't mind going if all my 3 girls are in PH in the coming years then he could bond with them all at once in school for a different experience.

php, at current, only no. 1 is in PH, is he allowed to bring my other younger girls (no. 3 is turning 2 soon) along for the Fathers@PHPPS activity? Will the activities be suitable for my 4-yo and 2-yo? He brings my 3 girls cycling, swimming, skating, kite-flying or for badminton on Sats.
Hi E3, during our first event, we did have fathers bring their younger ones along (shd be in their kindy)...we didn't have any restriction as there was no charge for this event...we will be planning activities to suit different level...so 1st event was open to P1 - P3. There should be some event that are suitable for all ages...we will definitely welcome your participation unless there is a change in rule and regulation...haha....

What activities did you guys have on that day?
Hi dyh, no information was sent out to all fathers...the purpose of the soft launch was to let the parents and teachers know that there is such a group in the school. we had a stall in the canteen during the school's mid autumn festival to promote its awareness....and we did free instant photo taking for father/kid during the launch....

first event was on 25 sep, Fathers@PHPPS Fun Day..we had about 300 fathers/kids participated in the event... they played father/kid bonding games together and end off with an on-the-spot art in which the kids would have to produce drawing and presented to their father. the event was only catered for P1 to P3.

there will be another event coming up before the kids go for their year-end break...this one will be interesting but limited capacity..
