Dd in P1 this year and this is likely what will happen on the first day.

When the kid reaches school, the buddy will assist your kid and he/she would bring the kid to the school hall. The buddy will even help in carrying the bag for the kid, so don't worry....Each kid will be assign a buddy - P5 student, for a week. Parents are only allow to enter the school on the first day only. You are not allow to enter the canteen area during the recess time but you can watch them from a distance. The buddies will be with them and assist them. Kids learn fast, so don't worry, your ds will be able to cope with money very soon... but it is better not to give the kid too much money, just enough for the day will do.....Basically, the kid will be on their own from 2nd day onward.....

Hi php, thanks for the information. Have read about the buddy system somewhere in this thread but have forgotten about it. At least there is a senior to guide ds for a week, can worry less. 😄

Beside a senior buddy assigns to the kid, your ds will also have a buddy assign by the FT. They will help each other throughout their P1....Nowadays, kids mix around easily. As for my dd, besides her classmates, she also makes friends from other classes introduce by her classmates, some are from her enrichment classes, some are neighbourhood friends, etc......

Hi I'm new to this forum.

But has been following it for a week or so.

I've been trying to get a good Chinese Caligraphy teacher for my girl in P5 - who recently develop an interest in this art form.

She's taken some lessons for about 6 months, er.... some years back in Turf Club \" Nan Yu Qian\" in her k2 years and still miss her teacher there.

Have tried to locate the teachers in Turf Club, but it was closed.
Wonder if any parents know the whereabout of the teacher, I think their name is \"Ms Chen\" and \"Mr Zhang\".

Also welcome Recommendations for Chinese Caligraphy teacher.
My girl is in P1 this year and she is attending her weekly lesson at the Chinese Calligraphy Society Of Singapore. There are many teachers there and if you are interested, i can help you to ask my girl's teacher whether she is interested.

I like BTPS surroundings nestled in the middle of a landed estate. I was not successful in Phase 2C for a SAP school in the East. Knowing that the other 'better' neighbourhood schools will most likely go into a ballot for Phase 2C Supp, I chose BTPS because of the good review online and offline (through my colleagues).

Yesterday, it was one of the nerve wrecking experience for me. As my home was more than 2km from BTPS, any balloting could spoil my chances of getting in the school (and my nerves as well). I was one of the first to register at 8am. When I left at 8.20am, there were 15 parents (for 75 vacancies). At 3.45pm when I called the school it left only 10 vacancies. I thought to myself, this is going to be close... At 4.45pm after the registration ended, I called again and was greeted with \"No Ballot\". This is truly one of the highlights of my year!!

Looking forward to see my daughter in BTPS next year!
All the six schools in Bukit Timah are great, including BTPS. I believe you did your homework very well and your dd will love the school and she will excel in her study. I was an ex-student there but that was in the early 70s. One of my classmate was a President Scholar and a few of them were scholars too. So don't worry, BTPS produce good students academically too.

I did consider to send my dd there as BTPS is just a stone throw from my place but later decided to put her in Pei Hwa for its SAP environment.

Wish that your dd will have an enjoyable stay in BTPS.

      2. Are parents allow to go into the school during recess time for the first few days of school for the P1? If recess time is at 3pm, then basically pack snacks such as sandwiches instead of bento for ds will do right? Ds is not familiar with money yet, so am worried. Please share how your kids cope during recess time when they first goes P1.

      Hi

Can someone advise regarding the format for P1 Eng & CH Paper 1?
      Thanks

As at last year, the formats were as such:

      P1 English pp1
SA1: 5 questions on sentence-making based on 5 pictures with helping words. (2 marks each)

SA2: Write 10 smooth sentences based on a picture with helping words. The story should flow. (10 marks)

      P1 Chinese pp1
SA1 (10m): 5 questions on 看图造句. Kids are allowed to use 汉语拼音 for 汉字 that they do not know as they are taught 汉语拼音 in term 1.

SA2 (10m): 10 questions: 5 看图造句 and 5 词语造句. No 汉语拼音 is encouraged. All must be written in 汉字.

Parents with P1 kids this year might want to confirm or correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

      Thank for reply.
